I don’t fault guys for opting out when it’s in their best interest, I get it you could literally lose millions of dollars to a freak injury. We as fans have to remember it’s not just about our viewing enjoyment all the time.

That being said, I do wish they could implement some sort of system that incentivizes players to play in the game (maybe like the cash payout someone suggested earlier). It truly is turning any bowl that isn’t a playoff one into a meaningless game, and that disappoints me as bowl season used to be a ton of fun with all the matchups.

As to the news that calzada is hitting the portal before the game surprises me. Why this timing? Is it really that critical to get scooped up now? I realize he saw the writing on the wall with King and Weigman but just seems weird. I’m sure somebody will pick him up, but don’t think the guy is P5 starting material unless he’s on a weaker team like a Kansas, oops I forgot they beat the mighty texas, maybe he would fit at like Vandy or somewhere?

Could it be he is more hurt than we thought? Maybe surgery and rehab so he is ready at new school in spring? Just a guess but i could see it being the reason

He’s supposedly pretty hurt and may need surgery on the shoulder. Makes sense to do it now so he can be ready for spring with a new team than wait. Don’t fault him at all for it
