Players have been getting paid through hundred dollar handshakes and such for as long as I can remember, the nil just brings it out in the open without penalties to teams.

As a fan of a school that has difficulty bringing in highly rated recruits, the portal can be very beneficial to us for instant talent and depth while our recruits develop.

It may also be a great equalizer and maybe we will have teams compete for it all besides the usual recruiting power houses.

Plus it gives good players who are not getting playing time on five star heavy teams a chance to play and contribute at another school instead of sitting the bench.

I would think the main people who are complaining are the ones who have top classes and want to keep other schools down.
