Anyway, I agree with the article in the OP that we are one of the cities which will become what Austin is.

In a lot of ways, we already are what Austin was in the late 1980s. Metro population approaching 600k. Lots of outdoor activities that are accessible (for now). A big state school in the south end of the metro. Big corporations in the north end of the metro. Increasingly blue dot in an overwhelmingly red state.

We have the same types of lakes and floating rivers here that they have in the Texas Hill Country. The Ozarks overall are better and more scenic, yet very similar. The mountain biking here, at least from a technical standpoint, is as good as it is anywhere in the country.
