Nashville has a much better chance at being the next Austin over NWA because Tennessee doesn't have any state income tax.
Nashville is already a landing spot for many coastal transplants that got out last year.
Fayetteville is more like the next Asheville NC. As long as the virus upon humanity that is the tech industry stays away, that's OK, but it also gravely apparent that the people that voted to make their states and cities financial and criminal hell holes are moving in droves to artsy red state population areas to take advantage of the real estate and cost of living and unburdensome regulations and laws.
Arkansas governors have not been nearly open as Texas governors have been over the last 20 years about attracting tech and new media businesses, so that's a bit of a relief. Arkansas, though, has landed some whales in the gun and firearms industry, but most of those jobs are in Ft Smith and Central Ark. which aren't exactly lovers of Mao and Karl Marx.
All I know is, NWA had a nice little 20 year run from about 1990-2010, since then it's been all downhill.
