Oh he scared (Saban)

A few thoughts on this rule change topic (to be posted here so we can have actual conversation about it)
1. Saban realized last year he can't stop a no huddle offense that is executed properly. Les Miles can. Bottom line. That's why he's on the campaign trial for this new rule.
2. The new rules doesn't fix a single problem it claims to remedy. If you're doing this for player safety then why don't you institute a rule that requires defensive players to sit the rest of a series if they take a knee due to injury.
3. Guys like Sumlin and Gus need to step up and go public on this issue before they can't run high speed offenses to their liking.
4. The rule doesn't really change much in terms of speed, but it does allow substitutions at will.
5. If the rule is implemented, then the offense should be able to go at the 29 second mark regardless of whether the defense is still in transition.
Bottom line ..... Saban scared.
any thoughts?

The rule don't have squat to do with Saban.
It's a dumb change the defense can sub linemen at will when the play is blown dead just have them ready and run em in there.
A lot of this is being brought about because the media are all a bunch of know nothing pussies who just repeat bullshite talking points that their bosses tell them to.

He's been a huge proponent of it and apparently he was in the room for the committee meetings.

Just because he is a proponent of the rule dosen't mean he is scared. The rule gives him an advantage because of the way he runs his defense. His D is based on calls and checks. So if you have extra time to survey the offense it's to his advantage. He would be a fool not to support it.

Thanks Mirth! Just randomly happened to catch it on the radio between errands today. Thought he made a lot of sense (per par).

All good points, and I think... at least hope... I'd agree if I was an Alabama or Arkansas fan.
This isn't about player safety. It's about the defense being taken out of their comfort zone, able to make situational substitutions at will. LSU seems to have it figured out pretty damn well. Bama fans should be embarrassed about this.
Saban (and Bret, but nobody cares) is going to come across really badly on this whole deal, sez me. At least, that's my hope

He's scared
Got his arse handed to him by OU's offense. If Auburn had a QB that could decently pass, they would have destroyed him. A&M embarrassed him despite the win. What's the common component between those 3?
He's scared and the "health" of his players is just a scapegoat to get the rules committee to listen to it this year. Isn't that what spring, summer and the week of practices intended to do? Get your team ready for your opponents this year? Sorry your defense has holes Nick the Dick and you're starting to get exposed

Saban's D relies on he and his staff making calls to sub whole player-packages out. He has entirely different groups of players for his different packages and field positions. LSU seems to have the ability to make defensive calls using, for the most part, the players on the field at any given time. I'm sure they have ideal players for different packages, but they can make do without 'em. Bama can't. The problem is with Bama's defensive philosophy on a base level. So base that they've recruited for it. They're basically screwed if an offense gets going and keeps snapping and doesn't sub because they either have to stay in the wrong package or use the wrong players for the right package. That's Saban's fault and that's why HE SCARED.
