We were very close to a MNC last season.
How does that make you feel?
The difference (so far) has been about something that is out of either coach's control. A tipped pass landed in the right guy's hands for Auburn last week. The tipped pass landed in the wrong guy's hands for Georgia last year. One kept Auburn in the hunt, the other killed Georgia's chances.

It makes me hopeful that we had a shot at it but not surprised that we literally fell short. It might be another 10 years before we have another opportunity.

Maybe, but the point is that we were 5 yards away from playing for it all. If our defense was a smidge better and we didn't get an unlucky tip/catch, we would all be hailing CMR rather than saying he can't get us there.
