Why Innovation is Key- an example from NFL

Comments from an WSJ article on why the Saints offense looks better this year..
That changed after last season, when the Saints replaced their offensive coordinator with Klint Kubiak, who had been working under San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. That meant replacing a playbook that had been growing stale with an offense directed by someone who had been part of perhaps the NFL’s most cutting-edge attack. Teams across the league have seen their offenses leap after importing a Shanahan disciple. That’s exactly what has happened in New Orleans, where even just a couple games has made clear how much the Saints have modernized their play-calling.
The reason I post is simply to say that in football if you’re not innovating you’re going to be playing behind the 8 ball.

When we come out on defense with 1 nose tackle, 4 LBs and 6 DBs, that’s innovating.

More than innovating, it’s making sure you don’t draft Bryce Young types as the #1 overall pick…

It was insane watching a Derek Carr led offense carve up a defense like the Cowboys with such ease

They've won two games. You couldnt find a better example than this.
Such as the offense Saban ran in 2011 versus 2020?

Lots of people understand this.
Others just want sling poo at each other about QBs.

They could miss the playoffs- it’s just a relevant topic for what this board has been crowing about. Bama’s offensive evolution is another good one. The point being evolving as the game evolves. Generally speaking.

Bama got worse after their offensive "innovation"

I agree with you. Just messing.
Innovation requires great maturity, acumen to understand change is needed, and willingness to adapt.
Saban continually slamming backs into the line would've resulted in significant declines and a deep regression of success. Les outright got fired for not adapting.

I can do random quotations too.

I can deflect when the narrative falls apart too.

I mean at the Combine his measurements were a huge red flag. 6’0 and 195lbs. WTF were the Panthers thinking.

It’s because of numskulls like these who have no idea what they are talking about:
Mel Kiper: I'm confident the Panthers will make the right call here and take Young, my top-ranked quarterback. He's going to be their face of the franchise for years to come, though they need to focus on putting talent around him so they're not picking in the top 10 in 2024.
McShay: We've been projecting Young here for a while, and there's no reason to change anything now. He appears set to become the No. 1 pick and the new franchise quarterback for the Panthers -- who desperately need one. You won't hear any arguments with the choice from me; Young is my No. 1 overall prospect. I love his poise and off-platform ability, and he can make every NFL-level throw. But can Carolina improve his supporting cast on Day 2?
