This thinking is why we are here. It’s like a person who is living paycheck to paycheck. “We will be fine when the tax refund check gets here”. Always looking for something to save the day.

Instead of realizing what the real problem is. We have more talent than 80% of the teams we play. Every year.

But we are not beating 80% of them. More talent is not gonna make Hugh a better coach. He is not consistent and he never has been. He is exactly what he always has been.

True. And it's going to take a combination of recruiting AND COACHING to dig out of that hole. We only have one of the two and not enough money to make up the difference.

Even though it was pre-NIL, we've seen this story before. Chizik recognized it then, but it was already too late to fix it. Timelines are shorter when money gets directly involved.

I looked back and we had a thread touting our blue chip player index level or something having moved up to 8th in SEC and 16th in the country.

But, most here after a terrible loss want us to think we have a bottom of the SEC team level talent and it’s just going to take time.

Who knows? I just don’t believe we are getting what we should out of what we currently have. Maybe it will improve.

we just got horsewhipped by a team in the bottom half of the ACC - at home

according to 247 we have less talent than 4 teams on our schedule - which means we should expect to at least be competitive in the other 8 games

knowing what we know now (and what some of us have suspected all along), what is your confidence level that we defeat all of these teams:

UNM
Arky
UK
Vandy
LA-Mo

Mizzou is about dead even with us in talent, and that game is on the road - I don’t think Freezus can outcoach Drink, which says a lot about both programs at this moment

We lost by one TD and had 5 turnovers, and a myriad of strange plays that resulted in stalled drives such as rhe fumble spiked pass. The horse whipping was NMST.

100% but those rankings are bull and i've been saying that since Harsin has been there. Last year the rankings tried to say we were more talented than Ole Miss. That was a joke. Ole Miss identified proven talent and stacked them on the field. We stacked ours in the form of Woodward, Koy Moore, Holden, and so on. The rankings are also inflated by juco fake 4* players.

the overwhelming majority of the turnovers came late in the game as we were trying desperately to make something happen

we opened with a 75 yard scoring drive, our next 9 possessions netted 125 yards and zero points, while Cal managed 305 yards and 21 points - thats a horsewhipping

its nice that you are 100% confident we will sweep the five beatable teams i listed on our schedule, i am 98% certain we will lose to at least one of them

which is a tribute to Kiff and his staff to evaluate talent, seeing as how the overwhelming majority of the players they picked up in the portal were 3-stars from schools like James Madison, LA Tech, North TX and FAU

Let's just be honest. Last game was more about ourselves than them. Anytime you play as badly with the turnovers and all, you're just burying yourself. We could have ran all over them if we tried to.

Arkansas is finding identity so of course things can change but I have been a fan of Auburn since Daniel Cobb. I am ingrained to believe those lessers are beneath us. I 100% believe I am right and you are wrong until im not.

It is. He had Dart and the core nucleus of playmakers. He also got JJ Pegues and other studs. He made efficient use out of his real talent.

He didn't sign any of those dudes. We had these so called blue chippers like Koy Moore, Jeffrey Embah, that skews everyone's judgment of how talented out roster really is and was.

Our real talent is just now starting to go to classes at Auburn. How did our team talent ranking stay the same year over year? We had no talent on offense outside of the RB group last year. Literally where was the talent hiding? We had a few holes satisfactorily filled by Hunter(hehe) and other 2 stars and three stars, but we stayed at risk of opposing teams showing out. We didnt have any QB talent and we still dont. But we got the Woodwards that were erroneously ranked thus our team is supposedly solid. In what world is our team solid. It hasn't been a decent unit since 2019.

…you would still see an upward trajectory…

This is my problem, I see exactly the opposite in terms of what happens on the football field. The Alabama game last year had some great performances by certain players, and some good things the coaches did to put players in positions to be successful. The Cal game last weekend was exactly the opposite. Terrible performances by several players and WTH schemes and calls by the coaches.

Recruiting sounds much improved, and that is great, but the poor on-field coaching and lack of performance by players (which should be addressed by coaches) has my confidence dropping daily.

Jang I appreciate your positive attitude, but I am to the point that I am worried about CHF for the long term.

I may be wrong but I think our future is bullish af if Freeze can do just enough to keep the rats from jumping off ship.

I share the concerns about Freeze as a gameday coach and motivator, but if that prevents him from winning 11, and only wins 10, then I'm welcome to those Cristobal issues as they are far better than what we have seen in years and years. It's all about recruiting.

He is an excellent recruiter but shite the bed for in game coaching. Too scared to make a change at Qb. Ran a 2 qb system last year and failed and now is sticking by a failed Qb.

If Freeze doesnt give us a good Qb soon, he will be ran out of town, regardless of top 5 recruiting classes

I wish he would just be head coach and go out and get an innovative OC and let him have it. Focus on being CEO, recruiting, managing the game as a whole on game day.
