Honestly, i dont see how people can look at our roster and say, five losses is acceptable with the level of talent we have.

One thing is for sure, losers have low expectations. Winners expect the best.

We see drastic swings in outcomes every year over the previous years results. LSU, A&M, and Penn State are all very talented. To write any of them in as sure fire wins is premature, IMO.

10 wins, give him a raise.
I would be very happy with 9.
8 wins I would consider solid.
7-5, I will be meh, but not that upset.
6-6 will be unsatisfactory but I wouldn't be ready to call for his head.
Only way I'd consider him on the hot seat is if the bottom falls out and we have a 2012 3-9 type of season. Our roster is strong enough that we have no excuse for that.
I don't think LSU or Bammer will be all-world this year and Harsin really needs to beat one of them. I really want to snap that 10 game losing streak in BR probably more than anything.

Yeah, I have to say several wins we had last year had me feeling worse. Don't get me wrong, a win is better than an L but watching those games made me feel real uneasy about the future.

Agreed. Anyone who says 7-5 is acceptable is frustrating. 9-3 is acceptable, just because it’s Harsin’s first season. Anything less, and it’s a failure of a year. Especially since Harsin needs a good year for recruiting momentum.

Saban went 6-6 his first year with a much easier schedule than we have. Lost to ULM
2 years off a 10-2 season so don’t act like they were talentless
Win. And loss doesn’t mean everything in the first year.

And they finished 4-0. They were a different team by the end of year. It’s a little lazy to just write them off based off the first half of the season and completely disregard the second.

Until we win in BR I’m not counting that as a win. We’ve blown too many games there recently.
Any team with a good offense is going to scare me this year. I really like our defense but I worry about our ability to keep up in a track meet.

Not necessarily true. A good season could certainly help but he needs a year of relationships far more. Look at FSU, they were garbage last year but are killing it this year.

That’s where I’m at too. I’d be concerned if less than 6 wins but then again the things I’ll be paying attention to will have already triggered concern by then as well. I’m not saying I’ll be unconcerned with losses but there are things that can be learned about your team regardless of wins or losses. I think back to 2013 during the LSU game and going wow this team has no quit in them.
After the first season realistic expectations can be formed
This year I want to see how the team reacts to adversity and identify Harsin’s strengths and weaknesses in various areas to include roster management and game management.

NO NO NO. No more raises after the first year unless it results in a national championship.

I don’t think anyone is trying to mark these as guaranteed wins for Auburn, but I have seen Auburn as guaranteed wins for a lot of these other teams. I believe a lot of fans here are naturally way tougher on this Auburn team, and get swept away in the narratives the national media portray of these teams.
From a straight blue chip ratio, we are literally tied with Penn State and within two spots and a few % points of Texas A&M. People are willing to cut Sean Clifford slack that they would never allow Bo, even though they have remarkably similar stats in their career. LSU is implementing new schemes and have coordinators that have never called plays on both sides of the ball. Everyone is obsessed with Lane Kiffen and Ole Miss this year, but everybody glosses over the fact that they had the #1 offense in the SEC last year and still finished with a .500 record. That is what happens when you have the worst defense in the country, and I’m not sure that is going to change this year.
I just think it is way easier to be harsh on your own team and gloss over the flaws of other teams. Auburn won’t be perfect this year by any means, but neither will a lot of these other teams they face either. I’m excited to watch a coach that might actually scheme, and make in game adjustments that give us a chance to win these games that we haven’t seen the past few years.

Saw the replay of Boise St vs BYU. Down 7 in the first quarter, 4 and 3, driving, 48 yard line. Harsin went for it and made it. Apparently Boise St vs BYU is a rivalry for their schools so it was a ballsy call imo

They beat Michigan (2-4), Mich St (2-5), Rutgers (3-6) and Illinois (2-6).
Im not writing them off. They have underdog status in this game and its in their stadium, however, i am calling this game a win and the first notch in Harsin's belt as Auburn's head coach
