I find it interesting the number of fans who need to make sure the other fan bases know they do not stand behind Auburns hiring of Freeaze. Anonymous posters seeking virtue acceptance from the masses. Very interesting indeed.

Correct. I want the man to win, not give me a sermon.

I feel like Freeze is going to be strongly encouraged to explain his previous transgressions and prevention /remediation plan going forward to a host of audiences. He, BoT, administrators, and AD understand the optics of his reputation and that there is a careful messaging campaign line of effort road ahead he's going to have to navigate to win over a portion of the fanbase, boosters and at fund raising events, recruits and their parents who research him, schools negatively recruiting, combative press, etc.

I'm certain the school is going to use its resources and public relations teams to assist in crafting him presentation products and talking points to use.

We should all give it a little time now that he's hired to see how that aspect plays out before throwing him over the side for flogging.

Best possible hire for us.

I don't find that remotely true.

I'm at peace with it and hope I'm proven wrong, but if we rehired Gus, it would be a better hire than Freeze.

It was literally any coach out there, not just Freeze and Kiffin.

This thread would make sense if the title said “we need a coach, not a fake preacher”

The dumbass OP thinks we want all that quackery?

Fickell was had for 7.9 million. Hell no Freeze wasn’t the best fit.

Who needs rivals when we you have our fanbase working against our coach. Even the Auburn sites aren't helping the cause.

We're working for Auburn, you just can't see it.

You wanted the divisive hire. Not me. We could’ve gotten a fresh hire, someone with a clean slate.

The dumbasses at Auburn knew very well it’d be this way, yet they went ahead and pulled the trigger. Freeze is not a homerun hire like Meyer that you can overlook his past. If you want to be upset with someone, be upset with the boosters and Cohen. They lost the press conference, so they better hope Freeze wins the war on the field.

You wanted to gamble on some nobody. There's a difference in wanting a different coach and trying to tank your own program with the "we are all righteous" BS.

They aren't changing the hire by whining. They are just negatively attacking Auburn and pretending to be fans at the same time. There is no excuse for a true Auburn fan trying to make the program look bad.

The less support Hugh has the less time he will be here and the better for Auburn. Pretty simple really.

The more he wins the less people care about the whiners and people who are just attacking and don't really have a clue to anything. The same people whining about Pearl disappeared or everyone ignored now.

After seeing the 2 messages he sent in their entirety and what he was responding to on Twitter I'm far less concerned about him than I was. If there's more then that could change my opinion but from what I've seen it wasn't anything near what has been portrayed.

Can't speak for those people as I wasn't one of them. Bruce's transgressions are not in the same realm for me compared to Hugh.

I actually agree with the premise of the OP but Hugh crosses a line for me beyond the typical sleazy coach.

Uh...They are the ones trashing the school for hiring him and spreading the half truths all over social media. That isn't helping anything. All because they didn't get who they wanted.

The AD, Pres, & boosters could all see this coming. They chose to pull the trigger anyway. Can't blame folks that were against the hire before to be against the hire after.

Folks can try to throw the "woke" label, the "pearl clutchers", or whatever to try to break them down into easily hated group, but there's a bunch of life-long AU fans and alums that are against the hire & probably won't support him regardless.

I just don't think he's that great of a coach, but he has the opportunity to prove me wrong.
