What ever cash we plan on saving by firing him in December is gonna be lost in lost revenue as a result of a pretty empty stadium...

Like firing him is gonna change the fact that nobody will come to NMSU and Alabama A&M And UGA game will have around 85,000 in town as well so not much of a loss there either.

The tickets have already been sold. The damage has been done.

I don't disagree with that but you know what else looks bad, A&M putting up almost half a mile of offense against us.

Totally agree, and why I don't really have a problem if they can him tomorrow. I just have never liked the "fire in the middle of the season" it reeks of desperation. That being said, we have a pretty strong case for desperate measures.

And as several other posters have noted, if we are going to hire a new coach, would like to have a leg up on all of the other schools that will be searching, so I guess I'm really in the "fire his arse now" crowd.

I'm not just talking about ticket sales for this year. We can keep Chiz till December or just continue in this death spiral.. At this point someone needs to be put in charge in an attempt to stop the bleeding. The season is toast, but we still have a few games to show some sort of improvement.. If nothing else, we should be playing younger guys like Cass and Wallace and building for the future. That would at least provide fans a tiny bit of hope. Chiz has proved time and time again that he will not do this. Cass played like a man possessed vs Vandy and is no where to be found last week.. Wallace played better than either of our other 2 qb's have all season and Chiz says "they'll evaluate him"

Every day he continues to be HC, the further we are set back.. He is no longer killing the program, because he already killed it.

ETA: Wallace starting now.. I wonder if that was Chiz's call or he was forced to start him.

agree.

I try to keep an open mind to the arguments to keep him, but they never make sense. The only thing i can assume is that they're based in morality or a sense that we owe him something. Well morality and college football are about as far apart on the spectrum as two points can get. he'll land on his feet, he's fricked the football program so he should be shown the door. I can't think of any industry where an employee could get away with this level of incompetence and still be retained at this point (please spare me any quips about politics).

That post was solely about revenue in the community so that's what I was going off of

ETA: The other part of your post is a fair argument.

Well i know for certain i will not be going down there to spend money in the community while he is head coach and i do believe that feeling is spread out more than you'd like to believe.

Just look at last weekend. While the crowd at the game and tailgating was ok, it was seriously down considering we were playing a night game vs. an SEC opponent that is new to the conference. Many people I know only went because we have had so many 11am games.

This weekend, the town will be like a ghost town.

More than I'd like to believe? I'm not taking a side. I just know that argument was made for aTm and 85,000 still showed up in Auburn.

If they were expecting anything for NMSU and AAMU they were already expecting too much. Those games never bring in much compared to SEC games anyways. The only other game left on the schedule other than those two is UGA and that will bring a huge crowd just for the fact that its UGA.

I'm not talking about any future seasons. Just this one alone.

And looking at it after half time, i can't believe much was sold on concessions. My point is simply that 200k to get rid of him on thursday or wait to the end of the season would likely work itself out. But even if not (and i'm no economist) it's still completely worth it to send his slogan making, no coaching arse the frick out of town.

You're talking community revenue yet you only seem to consider ticket sales.

If we are banking on concessions and not ticket sales to put us over the top then we were screwed anyways.

I'm not disagreeing. Football is enough reason to send him out of town. Don't know why anybody is trying to make it a gameday revenue argument.

I don't know how much we pull in a game off of hot dogs, nachos and coke sales, but I imagine it would take a huge hit if the stadium was half empty.

Quick math tells me if 87k fans spend just 5 dollars a each on concessions that's 435k of revenue. Chop those numbers in half and you see why Keeping Chiz till December doesn't really save us anything at the current rate the program is headed.

If they were expecting anything for homecoming then they were expecting too much?

I'm sure you're a student, or younger, so it may be lost on you (not a dig at you by the way) but usually homecoming will bring in folks (not a sell out) but many alumni (myself included) make that trip and stay in hotels, eat out and buy merchandise. Not this year.
