Agreed.
If we get a good QB and Ashford sticks around, he could be a Kodi Burns clone. Maybe better, as he appears to have a bit more speed and shiftiness.
He has looked like that would be a great role for him at slot receiver, a threat to do anything with the ball.
He is not an SEC caliber QB at this point any more than KB was. But he is a good athlete and there is a place for him to make huge contributions within a good team. I will go as far as to say that if we make a run in the next couple of years he will be a big part of it, but not at the QB spot. (Assuming he doesn't transfer)

Safety. Dude fumbles for no reason at all. Just randomly drops the ball. Seen it for 2 years now. No reason to put the ball in his hands. If he wants to make money playing football flip to free safety and learn to lock down TEs. He'd make a fortune.

Drives where Payton Thorne played a majority of the snaps.
6 drives for 208 yards.
Drives where Robby Ashford played a majority of snaps.
7 drives for 65 yards.

And how many of those drives were killed by bringing Throne in on 3rd down?

The kid is playing on the wrong side of the ball. If he wants to go pro defense is his route.

As long as he continues to be the best QB on the roster, he needs to stay right where he is.

But he isn’t and it’s not even close

Who do you think is? Throne?

Yes Thorne is currently the best QB on the roster and it’s not even remotely close. That’s not saying much. But it is reality

Maybe in your delusional reality. The offense with Ashford >>> Throne

jville you do understand ashford got the start but Hugh only let him throw 4 times.
Thats a bad offense.
Thats a bad offense.

You cannot say he is the best QB on our roster when Thorne has thrown for 6,000 yards.
Ashford is just better at the fire drill. If Ashford cared about his future he would switch positions. He is doing himself no favors right now.

Who has thrown for more yards at Auburn? Do you think Throne can match in 12 games what Ashford did in 9 games? He has a long way to go.

Just the opposite from what you are saying…
Drives where Payton Thorne played a majority of the snaps.
6 drives for 208 yards.
Drives where Robby Ashford played a majority of snaps.
7 drives for 65 yards.

7 drives for 65 yards.

Either argument for what they have done before makes no difference. You have clear evidence this season on the same team with the same players.
I still think Thorne gives us the best chance to win games. And for Robby’s sake he should consider moving to defense if he wants to play professionally. If I were betting on myself I would move to defense and see if I could make the league because he isn’t as a QB. I don’t think Thorne makes the league either as a QB but he can’t play another position

He can do that if he chooses after he leaves Auburn, like Marshall did. Right now, the offense scores points with Ashford having full drives. When they pull him or Throne goes in, the offense stalls out. Ashford needs to start and have Montgomery open up the offense for him.

If he's on D and drops the ball that's not bad and generally a pretty good thing. While him holding onto the ball would be a cause for celebration
. . . instead of something expected.
