I misread it. I took "last updated on 2/11" to mean February, 2011, not February 11 of this year. My bad.
My point still stands that such a roll call list doesn't show # of active users for each fanbase. Even if I started a new one, there will be people who hardly ever post popping in to add their name.

I'd say the recruiting threads accurately summarize the size of each fan base. (for the most part)

Truth. Auburn and Alabama are on their 2nd threads. Arky's still on their first. And our 2nd thread is bigger than their first.

This is what happens when you let other fans onto the Auburn Board.
Pissing contests.
ETA: And for Chicken, it's a model of why things like this should stick on the SEC Rant and not carry over to Team Boards.

I think my request to Chicken was appropriate for this thread. It's you haters who wanted to argue about it who have caused this debate to happen.

Arky fans don't care as much about high school kids as Auburn and Bama fans. At least I know I don't. I spend more time on the movie/tv board than the recruiting board.

Might need it after the Arkansas/Alabama game (regardless of outcome)

I think this has been discussed in other threads, but now is as good as a time as any to rehash on some old ideas.
It's pretty much a consensus that the quality of the SECRant has diminished over the last several months. We can attribute some of that to the offseason, but there was an influx of new posters that really made is a shitshow. As this season roll along and as this site gains even more popularity, there will be even more new posters. So in an effort to save the SECRant, can we put a minimum post count to be able to post on the SECRant(and the other boards)?
So basically, all new posters are secluded to their fanboard (I guess they have to declare upfront what team they associate themselves with) until they reach a specific # of posts. If they survive without being banned by their fanboard admin, then we can unleash them on the other boards.

I don't view this as likely. While it's a great idea, I just don't think this is what the Rant is all about. Sure, the SEC Rant isn't quite at the level it was a year ago, or two years ago, but it is still a much better place to post than a lot of other places out there. But I don't think that you can limit someone to only posting on their team board until they hit "x" number of posts. It would defeat the purpose of the rant, and besides, it wouldn't take long for a poster to hit 100 or 1000 posts before they could start posting on there.
I think a better idea, although this is also highly unlikely, would be to limit a poster to how many threads they could start, I.E. you can start 1 thread every 100 posts. At the same time though, the beauty of this place is that the admins let a lot of stuff slide that normally wouldn't fly on other boards (AUFamily, TideFans, HogVille, VolNation, ETC.) and because of that, this place will always be a better place for SEC Fans to come and talk about Football and other sports than any of those aforementioned places.
When you get fans from 13 other teams in one place, shite-talking/flaming is going to happen. The biggest thing is deciding whether or not it's in good intentions or just trying to start shite (I'm looking at you pluto55, beer bryant, etc)

I don't like this idea but the intentions are good. I've been on other boards where there was a minimum post count to start a thread, seemed kinda lame and just delayed the inevitable.

Again good in spirit but it would be bad for several reasons.
1. People will lie about their fan base.
2. It would basically be asking for alters to troll the fan boards, which almost defeats the purpose of them.
3. One of the competitive advantages tigerdroppings/SEC Rant is perceived poster/member freedom to express themselves just as much as a poster who has been here since the beginning.
There is no bullshite rep system or post count triggers (this should never be adopted here)
I honestly think the moderation/administration of the Tiger Rant is a good model for the individual SEC team boards.
The only possible problem for Chicken is getting people he can trust to regulate it since the admins already appear to be spread a little thin.
However, more admins/mods might not necessarily a good thing.
JMO.

Yeah, I can see both sides of the argument. The minimum post requirement would be set low on purpose, so it would serve as a probationary period where the intentional flamers would be weeded out from the start. If the person is a quality poster, he/she could get 100 posts in a matter of days. This way we kind of police our own, taking heat off of Chicken/Ice/Rummy and cutting down on the RA'ing
It does seem like a juvenile and stupid method, but its a way to deal with a certain small faction of posters. This just seems like an easy way to prevent those who would detract from this site from ever posting. I'm also kind of high and I'm a rambler, so in 12 hours I probably won't agree with half this shite.
That wouldn't be a huge problem. If their postings are secluded to "their" fanboard in the beginning and they choose to flame there, then they would be banned by that fanboard admin
The purpose of this post count thing isn't to ban people like CaptainBrannigan (just because he focuses on slightly more negative aspects of our team) or allin2010(because he's an annoying NtY'er). It's a way to stop people who intentionally come here to shite on a specific fanbase (which I think we can all agree is something we want). I'm by no means in love with this idea, it just seems like the easiest way to deal with the problem.
