We’ve been here before. Some of our best years in recent history come on the back of a loss to LSU. Only 3 games in, plenty of time to develop a better identity and get better. Hell, we had two losses last year and were one game away from the playoffs.

Settle down, cupcakes. Gus is our coach. He has won some incredible games. Lost a tough one last night. Definitely disappointing, but I’ve seen much worse losses. We will get better. The crying and moaning after a great game is unbecoming, please show yourself off the Gus bus, exit at the rear.

War damn

I hate how when the writing is on the wall, you pretend to not understand English all of a sudden.
Our coaching wasn’t the problem and we stil lost to an inferior opponent. We don’t have the hosses so we are going to waste a shite ton of talent this season.

It was one game. A game in which we were up two scores in the fourth quarter.

They choked the game away with the help of the refs. plain and simple.

I'm not sure. It seemed like we had a decent game plan, but we were out manned, out matched, and basically got whooped.

I do blame Gus for once again not having an offense put together BEFORE the first game (Kmart is basically 3rd string now). And Gus never developed another back last year. He also seems to recruit the wrong guys for his system.

But I think the recruiting struggles are catching up. LSU looked like the more physical team yesterday, and our lack of offensive line recruiting is showing its ugly face. Gus needs a mobile QB yet he won't develop Willis or Gatewood.

Right now UGA and UA are going to run all over us and Moo State looks to have a solid defense and offense.

Not sure anyone will run all over us, but I agree that uga and bama will likely light up our secondary and if we don't improve significantly those games won't be pretty for us.

MSU can beat us, but we match up well against their O. I am mildly optimistic about our OL. Go back and watch the game they didn't play as bad as everyone acted for what should have been expected. Stidham simply has to play better for us to win.

Name me one college head football coach who doesn't drop dumb games to teams with inferior talent on occasion

ETA: Not saying that LSU's talent level is lower than ours; they're probably about the same. But sweet Jesus, you people like to act like Urban Meyer never loses to Iowa or Saban to Ole Miss

He made mistakes but he did a lot of very good things too.

We should be thankful for Stidham, he's making Gus look better than Gus really is. Just wait until next year when we have Cord Sandburg starting. Y'all will be begging for Stidham.

I actually said the coaching wasn’t the problem. Lack of OL recruiting is.

If you’re satisfied with the state of the program, go be an Arkansas fan. An 8 or 9 win season is the expectation there. We have higher standards than that.

He's right. You're really claiming that Gus is the guy to take Auburn over the hump? Either he can or he can't, and if he can't then we're Arkansas or basically the traditional 8-4 team we're trying to get away from.

Aight then I'm confused as to how LSU is an "inferior opponent" if we "don't have the hosses" to compete with them

my bad

Well, we don’t have tbe OL to deal with even the inferior talent I guess. Kim struggled against ASU. Does that mean ASU isn't inferior?

This isn't next year. We need him to be better than he plays. That's on him. I agree he is the best we have to play, but that doesn't mean he is good enough to win championships with this team.

You can argue UW and LSU have better front 7's than UA and UGA, and our OL did slightly above average with both. Not perfect by any metric, but we have the bodies to have a great line.

If our 3 hardest games left weren't all on the road then I'd still feel pretty good about this team and season. I agree that this really isn't a bad loss, and I still like where Malzahn has the program overall, but in the context of this season this loss is a huge blow to our playoff chances. Then next season we lose probably every starter off the front 7 aside from Coe plus our starting QB, so playoffs probably aren't likely next season either.

2020 when Boobie, Shivers, Schwartz, and Seth Williams are all upperclassmen the offense will probably be damn near unstoppable so that will likely be our next real shot. Of course then we'll be right back to this BS issue of playing both UGA and Bama on the road to end the season. Im also a little worried how the DL will recover after this year, especially the interior. We'll still have good pass rushers (unless Coe, Bryant, and Moultry all 3 skip their senior years), but ever since we signed Derrick Brown the DT recruiting has been very disappointing to say the least unless one of these 3*s we've signed develops like Fairley did then things aren't looking good there. Luckily I think we're pretty loaded with young LBs rn so they'll have some support, but DT is still a huge concern after this year.

Last year when we lost to LSU, the season wasn’t over. This year, the season is basically over now. Gus isn’t going to beat Georgia and Bama on the road.
