Hoke thinks the new policy gives them cause if he doesn’t cooperate due to the highlighted portion of Harsin’s contract

What coach in their right mind would come to a place if it really made a policy to fire a coach for cause, which is how some are taking this? Not saying that’s necessarily what happened but the optics are awful

Just pay the man and move on

This policy had to have been there previously because we tried to fire Pearl for the same thing.

And honestly, if Harsin isn’t willing to cooperate with the investigation he should be fired unless he has legal exposure like Pearl did.

That’s retarded. You can’t retroactively change university policy or policy anywhere and then use it as cause. The university and all entities have to abide by the language of the contract and all policies set in place at the time of any sort of investigation or legal matter. Auburn trying to change horses mid stream in this instance would disastrous

Are you saying anyone with a contract before the University adopts a cooperation policy is grandfathered in and doesn't have to comply with that policy going forward?

To be fair there hasn’t been much he could really do considering he’s been in another country.

The word "modified" is weird to me in this context. I would really like some clarification on it, but no luck yet.

Little do they know if they had actually let the man recharge and have a break, he would EASILY get the 17th best class next year

No I’m saying that if you don’t have a policy in place regarding cooperation with investigations, you can’t retroactively create a policy regarding cooperation and then use said new policy to fire someone under investigation. You especially can’t create it for the sole purpose of creating cause for whoever you’re investigating.

Totally agree if you mean their failure to cooperate before the policy was adopted. But what if he fails to cooperate tomorrow?
