I would have a huge erection if either jimbo or Patterson is hired. Not sure I can say that for any one else at the moment.

I've heard time and time again from relatives who are involved heavily with FSU that Jimbo doesn't get along very well with people he should be getting along with. This has been going on since day 1.

So yeah, I've already kinda not been a fan of Strong because of his defense looking pretty weak this year, but I definitely am not a fan after watching him get destroyed today by Cuse. Already given up 413 yards overall, and 203 rushing yards with 10 mins left in the third quarter. Straight up ugly.

where are all these rumors of jeff Fisher coming from?

I know his son goes to and daughter went to AU but with all the money we're dishing out to Chizik to gtfo, can we really pay Fisher enough to leave the NFL?

I don't see it happening but I would have a perma-erection if we did somehow pull that off

Jimbo makes 2.2 million at FSU. If Auburn goes after him I bet he gets 3.5 - 4 million at Auburn. I don't think FSU will top that.

BTW: Anyone wanting Charlie Strong should be watching the Louisville-Syracuse game. I think that if you saw that you would change your mind. Do not want Charlie Strong as HC.

I know Jimbo's son has medical issues but a raise of 2m a year helps alleviate a lot of issues that could arise from making the move to Auburn, Alabama. So I would take that off the table.

Jeff Fisher doesn't make sense if we are being honest with ourselves. He's an NFL guy and has always been. Sure, he's a big name hire and that's exciting but college experience is still important and because of this and because of Fisher's current contract I cannot imagine him making the transition to the College game at this time in his life. But I don't know the fricking guy

I have a hard time seeing either coming.

But Bob Stoops is totally legit.

Excellent post from FamilyEagle:
quote:

For all the people who think Jimbo Fisher cannot possibly ever think about coaching in the SEC because he has lost some games in an inferior conference, keep in mind it is all about the right fit between coach, school, and conference. Let's compare Jimbo to two coaches who came from outside conferences to win big in the SEC, Les Miles & Nick Saban.

JImbo (Fl St):

2012: 9-1 (losses: NC St) (ranking: 10) (bowl: tbd) (titles: tbd)
2011: 9-4 (losses: WF, VA) (final rank: 23) (bowl: Champs Sports [w])
2010: 10-4 (losses: NC St) (final rank: 16) (bowl: Chick-fil-a [w])

Les Miles (OK. St.):

2001: 4-7 (losses: So. Miss, Mizzou, Ia St) unranked
2002: 8-5 (losses: La Tech) (bowl: Houston [w]) unranked
2003: 9-4 (losses: none bad) (bowl: Cotton [l]) unranked
2004: 7-5 (losses: none bad) (bowl: Alamo[l]) unranked

Nick Saban (Mi St):

1995: 6-5-1 (losses: none bad) (bowl: Independence [l]) unranked
1996: 6-6 (losses: louisville) (bowl: Sun [l]) unranked
1997: 7-5 (losses: Northwestern) (bowl: Aloha [l]) unranked
1998: 6-6 (losses: Oregon, Minnesota, Co. St) unranked
1999: 9-2 (losses: blowouts to Purdue, Wisconsin) (final rank: 7) (bowl:Citrus [w])

So what made Miles & Saban infinitely better coaches than their previous stops? Better recruits and resources.
Maybe, Fisher will benefit from that as well. Yes, Florida St has access to the same recruits we do, but look at our resources compared to theirs (which helps pay for better coaches and marketing):

Auburn 2009-2010 ath. dept. expenditures: 90.8 million
Florida State's 2009-10 ath dept. expend: 75.2 million

That's a huge difference. With our recruiting and resources, who knows how well Fisher will perform. All I know is his resume is equal to or exceeds Miles' and Saban's pre-SEC resumes.

Jimbo's "recruiting and resources" at FSU are fine. And he's shown he can develop talent. But I'm not sure his in-game coaching is the best. I wouldn't mind hiring Jimbo, and if he brought Mark Stoops, Dameyune Craig and Jameis Winston with him, I'd like it a lot more. But if we don't snag Gary Patterson or Petrino, I'll be disappointed. That's not to hate on anybody else, but those two are the best realistic candidates, and we shouldn't rest until one of them tells us yes.

Probably ends up at Arky

Petrino

I wish people would stop bringing up his fricking name. He had an affair, and it was wrong, but that's not the problem here. People seem to forget that he used his power and influence as head football coach to put his mistress in a position she was unqualified for, over much better candidates. That is a big-time legal no-no. When push comes to shove, the powers that be are not going to hire someone who puts the university as risk for some sort of legal liability.

Petrino is not going to happen. End of story.

It would really surprise me if Patterson took any job in the SEC. I have heard the Arkansas stories but I do not believe them. From what I have found, it seems that Gary Patterson may have a personal dislike for the SEC and how things operate down here.In other words, a bad taste in his mouth for the culture that surrounds SEC football(good 'ole boy network, sec politics, booster involvement, etc.) If true, can't say that I really blame him. JMO.
