we could hire someone better, but there's no way of knowing who that is, and i don't trust JJ/Gouge or anyone else in the AD enough to figure out who that is.

i'm really torn on BP.

Petrino would be a fantastic OC.

With who?

Malzahn (never won anything)? Smart (never been a head coach)? Strong (never won anything)? Fisher (never won anything)? The other Fisher, Jeff, isn't going to happen. Tony Dungy isn't going to happen. Bob Stoops isn't going to happen. Bobby Petrino is right there and wants the Auburn job. He is the best likely option.

And I don't want to hear, "he can't beat Saban". Who the frick can say they can that are likely candidates?

BOBBY4PREZ, bitches.

I think Petrino is a brilliant offensive coach - possibly the best in college football. Him and someone who could handle defense would be a great combo from a pure coaching perspective.

I think you have to consider morality when it comes to recruiting. How will it play with parents and grandparents of the 17 and 18 year olds? You have to sell them on the program and the coach in addition to getting the kid to buy in. Would he be able to overcome that? Probably with time.

To me the negative with the Arkansas/mistress episode isn't the morality, it's the decision making. Hiring his mistress as a subordinate created some potential legal ramifications for himself and the University. It was a terrible decision for himself and for his institution, and that is what may keep him from the Auburn HC position.

I do agree with this.

Good to see that all rationality hasn't been lost on the fan base. I've never said BP wouldn't be a good coach. Hiring him as HC would be media suicide for the University.

Actually he has won his side of the ACC twice in his only three years as a HC and will win the ACCT this year.

Fisher is a better choice, IMO.

He is the offensive mind that the BP fans want and saves AU from the media and AU fanbase that doesnt want BP's scrutiny.

Unfortunately, I dont think we will get him and have to settle.

Whooptie-fricking-do. I like Fisher, but Petrino has a better track record. Don't fool yourself.

Im not fooling anyone, just stating facts...not opinions.

BP has a 74% win perc...very impressive.

Jimbo has a 76% win perc.

In a week, they will both have conf titles in weak conferences.

One develops defense, FSU is in the Top 5...one doesnt.

This is an argument i just can't get behind. I guess i've missed the last few years where we were media darlings. If something is a shite show, and you throw more shite on it i don't think it makes it any worse.

We can jsut adopt the slogan we don't give a fAUck and go about business with petrino at head coach. Who knows if after say a year or two we don't have players getting thrown in jail then maybe the media will back off.

BP has also proven he can win in the hardest conference, and has coached a lot longer.

most people don't covet his offensive prowess. he is supposed to be an offensive guy and yet people only talk about the defense at FSU

It's almost not even worth arguing over. BP will never be the head coach at Auburn University. It just won't happen. It's frustrating that we're still talking about it.

Because no one in position to make that move will do it. They can't. Bobby fricked himself into this, though.
