The way the admin ran Bowden out pissed off a lot of old-regime boosters.

You do know he coaches in the Big 12, right?

Yes this is the first year that they have been in the Big 12. TCU has not had that type of culture since the break up of the old SWC. I don't believe that TCU has had the "win at all cost" attitude for years. TCU use to cheat with the best of them in the old SWC. TCU went through some very lean years as members of the WAC. The resurgence of TCU started with Franchione and was followed up by Patterson as members of Conference USA and the MWC.
What I am saying is it would have to be a Saban-like situation in regards to power for Patterson to come to the SEC. Patterson wil not put up with or wants no part of the other stuff.

Do you think that the PTB and medlers are willing to relinquish that power at Auburn? I don't.

I believed something would happen today, after the debacle that was the UGA game. I am as lost as anyone why Chizik still has a job.

Same goes for Jacobs...

Cause Pres Gouge said publically that he wont do anything until after the season.

It was always going to happen sometime between Nov 26th and Dec 4th.

I had heard differently... That we would be told today (someone I trust) and that Chizik would remain and coach until the end of the season. Just basically admitting that I was wrong.

I don't subscribe to Auburn Undercover but I do get email notifications from them. Here is what the email said....

quote:

* Barring a complete reversal of plans, which is always possible but is unlikely, Jay Jacobs will be retained as Auburn's athletics director.

* If there is a coaching change, Jacobs and president Jay Gogue will work together, probably with some sort of committee, in the search for a replacement. Gogue will be much more involved than he was in the search that resulted in the hiring of Gene Chizik and will have the final say.

* The desire is for the process to move very rapidly.

* Chizik's chances of returning as head coach, already low, are even lower in the wake of last Saturday's 38-0 loss to Georgia.

* The names I hear most often as potential replacements, if there is a change, are Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher...

Smart, like it or not, would be a good hire.

Saban runs that defense. Smart makes the calls.

Said Jimbo would be interested, but you never know if he would take it.

Said Jay would not be a detriment to hiring a quality coach.

Also said that it now appears that Jay will make a recommendation to Gogue about Chizik's, but that Gogue will have the final word.

Later in response to a post did say that it is a safe assumption that Tim Jackson would not be involved next season in Auburn Football.

I would rather have a new AD, break up the good ole boy network, and keep Chiz another year. New AD could find his HC next year.

It won't happen. They don't want to get rid of Jacobs for some reason.

I think that it is safe to say that Jimbo is the leading candidate by a wide margin. I believe that the job is his if he wants it and that he will have to turn it down not to be Auburn's next football coach. If he doesn't come, I believe that we end up with a second tier coach and I think that coach will be Malzahn. I have said all along that Jacobs, if he is still around, would hire Malzahn because he knows that would satisfy part of the fanbase. Safe hire- takes the heat off for the moment.

Look's like "Ole Butt Kissing Jay is going to survive. The lack and type of leadership at Auburn University baffles me.
