Jim Leonard will be extremely hard to unseat at Wisconsin if he keeps winning. He played there and he is considered to be a big "rising star" in the coaching ranks.

I agree. And I'm pretty sure that's the reason they fired Chryst.

They very well may keep Leonhard on, but he's only won one game since taking over, and that was against 1-5 Northwestern. If Wisconsin has a choice between Fickell and Leonhard, I think it's pretty obvious. Proven winner versus a guy who really just started coaching, and has never been an HC before.

That's why I said if he keeps winning. This is a "Chosen Son" type situation. Leonhard isn't some random schmuck, he's a guy that will have been receiving heavy HC consideration at other schools regardless. His pedigree is pretty spotless as is his reputation, and again...he played at Wisconsin. If he keeps winning then what is the point of bringing in Fickell?

You say this like they've played 5 games since he took over.

Their schedule is very favorable going forward.

We really need to start a “Stop the Steele” campaign before we hire Hugh Freeze. Dude is a mediocre coach and a PR nightmare for the program. On top of banging prostitutes and cheating his off in recruiting, he was a creep to female high school students.

This article will be shared a million times after he is hired and I would bet that many other female students will come out and tell similar stories.

AL.com Freeze is a creep

Hugh Freeze is extremely good at schmoozing. He would be a very good "fit" for this job. Even the ultra-Christian pastor stuff flies extremely well at Auburn. He knows how this place operates and how to sell Auburn and it's uniqueness.

This is a much better fit than what people want to assume. The off-field stuff is obvious, but what recruiting violations has he committed at Liberty? Has that school been given the death-penalty yet? He's been clean there apart from the DM situation that I don't think anyone even really gives a crap about to be honest (it went nowhere). He wants this job badly.

The off the field stuff alone should be enough. Of course the Falwells would loved to have a self-righteous man like Freeze redeem himself under their watch.

And if he gets it, he’ll do it badly.

Even overlooking the absolute creepiness and immaturity of the guy, he’s a mediocre HC living on past glories. His last meaningful victory was 7 years ago, and he went 7-5 last year with an NFL-caliber QB against a weak-as-water schedule.

He needs to stay at Liberty where his brand of self-righteous phony Christianity still works on the ignorant.

Maybe. He was implicated for a lot less than you probably think by the NCAA. The worst crime was banging prostitutes, but as far as I know his wife is still with him and his family never abandoned him - this isn't insignificant. We're approaching like 7 years on that stuff now.

It’s very significant. Dude didn’t have the awareness to maybe not call prostitutes on a university phone. Add the allegations of him being a creep with high school girls with the fact that he wasn’t that spectacular of a football coach. Dude doesn’t deserve an interview.

But I’m sure the AU power brokers get along with him well cause he’s just another good ol boy who made it big.

This just isn't empirically true by any standard. They went 8-5 last season - at a program that only became a full FBS member in 2019. That is a ~6 win program, dawg. Even going 8-5 isn't "easy" for Liberty, regardless of who their QB is. If that's your big "ah-hah!" moment, then you really don't have much.

This year they are 5-1 with a 1-point loss to a Top 15 ranked Wake Forest team who's only loss came in double overtime to a Top 5 Clemson team. Oh yeah, and they've had two QB's inured this season and he's spent the entire year forced to play a rotation of backups. Their starting QB broke his hand a few plays into their opening game and has been out since. It's actually mind-blowing that they were able to only lose by 1-point against Wake Forest with a backup QB playing.

I've repeated this a million times now, but you have to really lose reality to not see that he is quite clearly a very good head coach. He's had three straight jobs wherein he's inherited dogshit and has produced a winner either immediately or within ~2 years. Arkansas State, Ole Miss, and Liberty are not teams that traditionally win a lot of games in football. And unlike Lane Kiffin, Freeze didn't have the luxury of LSU anD Auburn being complete dogshit while he was the HC there. Alabama was also stronger during his tenure than they are today.

Some of you really have completely idiotic football takes. He won more games in his first season than at Ole Miss than they had won in the two prior seasons COMBINED. He inherited a literal pile of crap. But again, some of you were trying to suggest that Bryan Harsin inherited some unfathomably bad roster

Kiffin is the guy. But when we pay him Jimbo money, we need a contractual "out."

A pic Jerry Falwell, Jr posted to his instagram and then deleted after a vacation on his yacht.

This was posted around the same time that it came out that he would watch his wife have sex with a 20 year old.

Falwell Jr is of course the former president of Liberty.
