Gus showed he was great in moments. He could take a play here or there. He could call a time out at a crucial moment and if the game allowed it, if things were set up for it, he could come off with a dazzling trick, more times than not.

But he could not coach an entire game. Certainly not a season either. Just a glorified wizard on offense, who should never have been a head coach.

Yeah, OK. Let’s just completely dismiss the fact that he led a team to an SECC and a berth in the NCG.

And he’ll likely be a successful head coach at a lower P5 or a top tier G5 program.

Not everyone is Nick Saban.

Gus did that with freakish talent, and then… He couldn’t recruit, couldn’t keep players on the field, and those he did he couldn’t distribute the ball efficiently enough to get more than seven freaking points against Georgia , on average. His record versus Georgia LSU and Alabama are abysmal. ( Despite being the one coach who has beaten Alabama in the SEC more than the other )

I’m not arguing that he wasn’t a great fit for Auburn. I’m just saying your remark about “he should have never been a head coach” is a little overboard.

Also, why speak ill of the dead? Malzahn did a lot of good things for Auburn. It had just run its course after 8 years.

As a student from 2010-2014, I can say without a doubt that 2013 was so much more fun and memorable than 2010. Great take.

I know it doesn't make sense, but 2010 was stressful. A lot of close games, and then the Cam bullshite. 2013 I had no expectations at all...lol, we were starting a former DB at quarterback, had a new coach that we had no clue how he would do, ect.
