Mike McNeil was never the same after he broke his leg. He was slow to start with, but got even slower, and struggled in pass coverage. Now, the guy could hit and tackle like the best around, but his game was limited.

Etheridge was not the best S we have had. He was average on his best days.

I never said he was great but if you call him average let's be honest and call Ford below average then. I never saw ZE avoiding any contact. Rudy has spent 1/3 of his career being mistaken for a damn kitten... unless we are now viewing his slap tackle technique as revolutionary. I'm just saying calling him the best we have had in a decade makes me throw up in my mouth more than a little. damn we suck.

you are out of your gotdamn mind if you have a low opinion of Ford. The guy will be our highest drafted secondary player since Carlos Rogers, will be the leading tackler for three straight years and probably make all SEC this year. yet all you remember is him avoiding contact against LF? JABA AF

He will need a monster year to be drafted earlier than RD3. Jerraud Powers was a RD3 guy

1/3 of the time? I was aware we are allowed to just make things up to support our claim. But we do now live in a post-fact society.

shite. Why does Ford even need to suit up since we are already assuming he will lead the team in tackles. Since nobody has ever been injured before..

injury is the only thing that will keep him from balling out and getting drafted. He is the most sound tackler i have seen from a secondary position...damn near ever in my lifetime. perfect form

Seriously, why in the frick do Auburn fans belittle their best players. Ford is fricking awesome. I wish we had an entire secondary just like him sans the best lock down corner in over a decade

Rudy is a BEAST! Had a bad moment with the LF7 fiasco but still, he has been money the past few years and can flat FLY!

that's obvious every time you claim Ford is even average much less good. the fact he was the leading tackler in ANY season only serves to prove how bad our front 7 has been.

while I openly doubt it's veracity, how strong of a statement is that anyway? I admittedly dont follow the NFL very closely at all so please clue me in as to what company that would put him in. all NFL talk aside I would be surprised if many analysts had him in the top half in the SEC alone.

He is a sure tackler when the linebackers leave truck size holes for the ball carriers to run the ball. I remember when Demetruce McNeil was our leading returning tackler... So yeah it's not that big of a deal that the secondary can load up on tackles on horrible teams.

I apologize for continuing to come back to this post but if you honestly cant discern hyperbole when someone compares a guy to a fricking kitten there is probably no point in continuing to converse with you. you just keep doing what you do...

His 40 time, closing speed, tackling ability and versatility ie play corner, nickle or safety will have NFL teams spending millions to sign him. Personally, his combine will lock him into the top 5 secondary players taken in the draft imo.

You can call it nega barning but I call it looking at his body of work as objectively as possible. I need to see more pass coverage ability of he is going to be a nickel/ cornerback in the NFL. If he is at safety, he will do pretty good as a run stopper.

then objectively, this is Fords body of work

2013 -
Running back 6 carries 73 yrd 1 Td
Secondary - five tackles, 1 PBR

2014
Secondary - 93 tackles 3 Ints 2.5 TFLs .5 Sack 1 PBR 1 FF

2015
Secondary - 118 tackles 2 Ints 1 TD 3 TFLs 1 Sack 2 PBR 2 FF 2nd in the SEC in KO returns

Feel free to look up LSU's secondary players who are touted as being the best in the SEC, or better yet, look up Alabama's. See how Ford matches up.

People need to give Rudy Ford the recognition he deserves. Not only is he a damned good football player, but he doesn't seem to get in trouble and hustles every play. I like seeing a guy RUN back to position after making a tackle. He does.
