In the first season for a head coach that is implementing an entirely different offense and defensive scheme….
Would you rather the coaches run their schemes and recruit off the scheme or would you rather play to your players strengths until you get your players in and then try to implement your schemes?
I said going into the season I wanted us to implement what the coaches wanted to run whether we go 9-3 or 6-6. Tonight appeared to be running scheme more then playing to players strengths.
Only other thing I wanted to point out was I was blasted for saying Capers was not hustling in practice in the fall in the little film we got to see. You really think Seth is better then Canion and Capers? Our wide receivers are horrible. Cost us the game tonight offensively and our horrible defensive zone scheme.
Canion
Johnson Jr
J Johnson should be your starters
With
Capers
Robinson
Hudson
The backups.
When we go 4 wide unless we are going homerun we should always have a slot WR and flex TE on the field with our 2 outside WRs. And they can be in any alignment 3 x 1, stacked, 2x2, 1 wide 3 stacked at the line however.

I’ll give a simple answer - play to the strengths then implement once you have your players. It’s a 2-3 year deal. I’m fine with that.

Thanks there is no wrong answer but in those 2-3 years until you get your players don’t you either have to cross train them for those years to do both or just don’t use your younger players? Also how do you show a “different” kind of player how you would use them.
Example we are not good at WR. Do you think running the ball 50 times a game and passing it 20 a game this year encourages or discourages high quality WRs to come to AU just for a couple extra wins this year?
