Coaches met with Marshall recently and he agreed to return to punt.

Auburn is working on bringing in another punter (Chapman) from Australia but visa delays due to COVID-19 has cast doubt on when he will ultimately arrive

I don’t remember him as being all that great but desperate times call for desperate measures

In a Gus offense, a punter is very important.

Aidan is a good kid and a good punter. I’m glad he’s back.

Anybody know when AU will release the official roster? I saw today Fall camp will begin August 17th for SEC teams.

Is the roster generally released at the start of camp? I know this year is an anomaly, but just feels like we normally already have a roster to look at.

The website is up to date I believe: Auburntigers.com

Even has Matthew Hill as a DB. We’ve discussed this recently in the recruiting thread but it’s mostly been buried

Awesome.

Thanks, Jones.

I guess it dropped today, I have been looking everyday for a couple weeks now.

Justin Osbourne put himself into the transfer portal. SIAP.

He was talked about with fairly high praise last fall so kinda surprising.

I thought the new NCAA rule allowing jersey number "0" also limited the amount of duplicate jerseys per team to two?

I count 27ish sets of duplicates on our roster. Are they going to sort that out at later date based on playing time or what?

Thats what I remembered. Thought he’d be a good 6th OL. In typical Auburn fan fashion, now that he has left, there were issues all along.

I think the duplicate applies only to the jersey number itself. So there can be only 2 #4’s, 2 #10’s, 2 #0’s, etc

I think 0 was added because some teams had more than 2 players with the same number. Especially with single digit numbers

Oh... Okay. I've never noticed more than two players assigned to one jersey number. Usually one on offense, one on defense.

I guess these coaches backed themselves into a corner over promising jersey numbers in recruiting.

I didn't know it was an issue either.

I imagine a lot of schools like Auburn have a few a popular single digits not in rotation. For example, nobody is getting 2 or 7

It’s still hard for me to adjust to seeing these big defensive linemen wearing single digits

I agree. My jersey number meant a lot to me. It was my identity on the team. I couldn’t imagine sharing a number with another player. I think that they should not allow this practice going forward. There are 100 possible numbers in a 0-99 spread. Besides, someone has to wear 68. Yuck. :)

Just curious - did you play in college? Asking because with 85 scholarships numbers guaranteed, it leaves only 15 numbers. Programs like Auburn have dozens of non scholarship players

Just curious how you would work with that

I did. Only the players that dressed had assigned numbers. We had limits on how many players could dress, and everyone had to have separate numbers. We had more players than numbers in practice, and in the team photo, there were duplicates. But, those players weren’t assigned a specific number until they started dressing for games.
