It's cool. I accept, just trying to make folks understand the struggles of a special needs parent. I want no pity, no help, nothing. Just take that word out of the lexicon.

You know Corch, I also have a son that is Autistic and I have also gotten upset with people in the past, especially on this board, that constantly use that word. Though I dont use it myself, I just dont think we can be upset by it. It really doesnt do anything negative to our loved ones.
My son is wonderful and a blessing. Someone using that type of word may show ignorance by them but in the end, it is only a word and not being directed directly at your loved one should not really be offensive.
I guess I am just over it and dont think it is something to get all riled up about. That is only my opinion which Im sure means nothing.

I don't understand the question. how was I patting myself on the back? I'm still confused on the anger generated here just based on differing opinions. I love and welcome discussion. I don't understand the personal attacks. That's my only issue.
But you lost me on the patting of the back thing... and no I have no issues I get plenty of back patting. So if you're offering if I don't do it, no thanks!
