The only starters were Chris Davis, Jonathan Mincy, Chad Slade, Jake Holland ( ) and Parkey/Clark for ST

Other than Chris Davis, the rest were pretty replaceable.

6 of our top 10 tacklers were in that class along with our top 2 INT guys. They weren't the biggest pieces but they played important roles

Pretty nuts to think that solid recruiting class fell apart like that

3 arrested, 2 killed, another quit because he was shot, 1 with season ending injury & another booted off the team before his senior year along with a few processed or academically ineligible. But also a Heisman winner, BCS MVP winner & player that will forever be linked with greatest play in Iron Bowl history. I feel like that class sums up the past 6 seasons of Auburn football

How many times does it need to be pointed out that the "WR coaching" debate is pointless in an offense under the leadership of Gus Malzahn? WR's will continue to under-produce and show poor fundamentals in an offense that places blocking first for the position, whilst limiting touches and otherwise treating the position as a "changeup" pitch to the fastball that is the run game. Malzahn's passing offense is a gimmick meant to punish teams when they key in to stop the run, period. It looked good back when his offense was still a novelty, but you'd be blind if you haven't noticed that his offense looks a lot less creative now that defenses have had several years to pick it apart. At the end of the day, regardless of who's been the "WR coach", in ~10 years of top-level D1 offensive performance his system has only produced a 3rd and a 4th round pick NFL receiver...both guys who were literally only drafted that high off of their pure natural athletic upside. Its a systematic problem: you run a gimmick pass offense thats only really there to exploit the defense selling out to stop the run, you're going to see flawed receiver play regardless of who is coaching them. You see the exact same thing at Georgia Tech who's had a long run of freakishly athletic receivers get drafted high despite almost all of them showing inconsistent hands and poor route running.

Exactly, Metafour. WR production issues ran a lot deeper than Dameyune Craig.

Oh I don't disagree at all. Is this what we were arguing?

You called him an average coach and attempted to back it up by pointing out the on the field success of Troopah.

I still stand by the fact that he's an average on the field coach. But I do agree that Malzahn hasn't helped him. I also think trooper is better than most assume because he acts like an idiot. But let's not open this can of worms again.

Which is an actual thing whether you want to admit it or not.

The offense as a whole looked good back when Trooper Taylor was here, so its kind of a hard comparison when you consider that Chris Todd broke passing records during that period whereas today we cant even field a single quarterback worth a shite. Receivers aren't going to look good in a pitiful pass offense, which is exactly what we've fielded the past few years.

Going even further; given how much of the actual "coaching" is done by off-field assistants, its an even harder comparison to make. I know that I've been told that receivers were mainly coached by off-field coaches (Casey Woods) during BOTH Trooper's AND DC's tenures.

I vote we refer to it as play action.

Duke Williams only with one catch( one target) and four yards in tonight's preseason game. Another UDFA WR has 6 catches and 51 yards on the night as well.

Pretty cool unfrafted story: LINK

Seems to be a fan favorite but the roster isn't too kind to him as they have a lot of WR talent.
