I think we should aggressively recruit all of bammer's assistant coaches (or at least spread rumors to that effect)to create distractions for them leading up to the playoff.

Looks like we will have a coach hired by Sunday at least. Article by J Lee about Brousard says Gus will visit him dec 13 with the new DC.

Agree. So we will have a DC by Sunday and we have heard no names leaked? Doesn't sound promising at all. I swear if they hire Phillip Lolley I will be fricking furious.

I don't even know how his name has even been brought up. If he is a serious candidate, then that should point to some major behind the scenes issues within the AD and high quality candidates not being interested.

Gus made a splash hire last time. Yes, it didn't work out, but that's because he went for broke and offense was the issue this season. I will withhold judgement till the DC is named.
If it were Lolley or someone from within, he probably would have named them already.

I wouldn't hate hiring an up and coming assistant coach. I just don't see any quality coach coming to AU with DC experience with the potential turmoil

I might be crazy but off that list give me Butch Davis. Not only cause I think he is the best coach, but it would rustle the shite out of Jimmies everywhere. He cheated like hell at UNC. Bagman engaged!

This is prob true. Let's hope they are trying to work out a deal with Charles Kelly, and expect it to be finalized by Sunday. Rumor has it Kelly told Gus no, but who knows wtf is going on in the AU AD.

Yeah, but this situation rests on Jay Jacobs. I'm usually not a token JJ basher, but the fact we gave Muschamp every bit of leverage after only 1 year at a position that needs some continuity to pay off is disheartening. Muschamp should have been locked down for at least 2 years. If he didn't except that, so be it, move on to the next on your list.
But the fact there was no buyout after year 1 made him easy pickings. You're not going to change a defense in 1 fricking year. It was an atrocious contract, and the way Jay Jacobs proceeded screams desparation and short-sightedness. At the very least, a buyout would have deterred smaller schools (which we all thought might come after him), yet there was no protection for AU's program.

Just my best guess but I would be shocked if it were Kelly.
