Knowing our brass though I wouldn't be surprised if they contractually promise the new HC would have to keep Kelly.

Yeah, because they have a well known track record of doing that kind of shite before, right?

Not necessarily. But they have proven over time to put nothing past them on the smart or dumb side of things.

"I don't like him/them, ergo I would not be surprised that they would perform an imaginary stupid act that I came up with out of thin air that they've never done previously or have given any indication that they would do in the future."

Sounds good.

It's nothing like that at all. Remember jetgate & how totally fricking stupid that was? That was real, not imaginary. Well there are elements of that faction still involved in the program & on the BOT.

Besides, the OP was a half joke. Sorry you missed that & took it all serious. It was 1 of the few times I was trolling.

Per PM AU has given Kelly a lot to think about. If it's Kelly PM thinks it will be decided tomorrow.

Back in the day, a poster named austudent22 was considered pretty consistent with his info. Not sure if he was really connected or merely a good guesser.

He still knows whats up. He told me a year ago that Muschamp wouldn't be his top choice because he felt that he was going to be a one-and-done. Alas here we are today.

I asked him "just how screwed are we right now" a few days ago and he responded:

"We have a lot of money. Much else? i don't know."

In all fairness, all of us knew muschamp was one and done. We all just expected an SEC title out of his one year.

This really has that DC recruitment feel to it. Initial inquiries are rebuffed, FSU "insiders" report he is staying. AU up the ante & he makes the move. Hope that happens again here.

I imagine if Kelly turns us down then Thompson gets the job as Gus has told recruits they can meet the DC on Sunday. And with Pruitt looking like non option I have to think he takes the risk.

Nothing new in the PM update this morning:

Kelly hasn't made the final call yet. Auburn has given him a lot to think about. Decision could come today. Tomorrow at the latest

Per my source, which is a close family friend of the Kelly's. Gus called CK Sunday and offered. He has since spoken with everyone from Auburn including Pat Dye as of yesterday, but he hasn't spoken with JJ yet. Find that a little odd if a decision is supposed to be on the table today or tomorrow.

Lance Thompson told a recruit that we haven't offered to keep his phone on in case he got the DC job because he'd be calling

Ask this earlier, where did we start listening to Phillip Marshall again? Are there no other insiders in the AD anymore?

We've always listened to PM.

He's an insider. Does that make his info good? Not necessarily but it's at least worth a listen unlike all the wannabe insiders who come around here.

After Chizik left, there are no insiders. PM is well connected to Auburn folks and he's among a handful of people that may know the most but none of them have a very clear picture. That's a big reason why our beat writers at Auburn are practically a revolving door.
