Probably just cross-training him, I would think. Seems like the past day or two, they have been working on Dime packages, so that makes some sense.

I bet it isn't a permanent move this season.

I agree. He laid some people out last year.
He's not a safety. There is much more to safety than just hitting people. The reality is Therezie is not comfortable being as far away from the LOS as Field and boundary safeties normally are. Thus his best fit is at Star where he is closer to the LOS most of the time and he has the CB skills to play versus #3 and #4 WRs of other teams.

Ruffin has moved from CB to Star per AUC.

That's a surprise. I figured he'd be a guy that can maybe get a little playing time at corner this year against some weaker opponents and in trash time. He's going to have to put on a lot of weight to play Star.

There is no need to cross train him now though. He is 4th at best at Star. Going into camp CB was believed to be open competition for the #4 CB spot. I think moving him may be a good sign on dime packages that use 4 CBs as Ruffin was expected to compete heavily for that #4 spot.

Yea, this is what I was getting at. I don't think he is really getting moved to Star, it just looks like that when we are in the dime package. I would assume that there are some similarities in the star position and that dime package position.

EJ said 2 days ago that Garrett is "better in space" than Therezie.

Per AUR LINK

-Golson has been outstanding this fall and can play every OL spot
-Ruffin has stood out at CB and will battle to be in normal part of the rotation. Expected to be big on ST play. (No word of a move to Star)
-Braden "Drago" Smith has turned heads. Has work to do before expected to start but definitely can play this season
-Myron Rurton has stood out. Likely will not be in WR rotation but could be valuable on ST plays
-Staff pleased with all the newbies on the DL
-Sean "How Tall Am I" White will not play this year but has picked up the O fast and been very accurate with passes

It was BMatt not the coaches and he used unlikely. I just went the extra tenth of a mile in my paraphrasing.

Yea, at this point, there really isn't a reason to not redshirt him.

Does someone have dibs on a prediction thread or can I go ahead and kick one off?

If they RS him, JJ will have wasted half his college career to get beat out by a RS-F.

“Josh is going to be our X-factor this year in the secondary,” safety Jermaine Whitehead told the Montgomery Advisor. “He’s going to make some plays at corner. He’s going to make some plays at safety. He’s going to make some plays at dime. He’s going to be all over the field. I can’t wait to watch.

He’s going to play a lot like Tyrann (Mathieu) did for LSU. I think he’s going to be everywhere and make a lot of plays and market himself for our team.”

Didn't see these comments from Whitehead so I figured I'd post them. Hated seeing Holsey go down last year. He was looking real comfortable on the field! Glad he is back!

It is funny watching practice videos cause so many of our guys have knee braces on right now. I'm pretty sure every DLineman has at least one brace on. I'm sure part recovery and part precautionary from the spring

True freshmen Roc Thomas and Stanton Truitt worked with Ricardo Louis and Corey Grant at kick returner.

Chade Slade and Reed didn't practice today Reed was wearing a brace on his right knee

Just got done watching the final open media portion of Auburn preseason practice. Senior OG Chad Slade not in pads today, didn't participate

Mike Szvetitz @Szvetitz
Also, Auburn senior defensive back Trovon Reed wasn't in pads, had a soft brace on rightknee

Opelika's own Stephen Roberts was receiving punts during the open media portion of today's Auburn practice.
