I highly doubt that.

Jokic and Bird have some similarities. If I were to give a modern Bird comparison it would have to be him. Jokic obviously has more size and Bird was a better shooter but I think Jokic success speaks to the idea that Bird would have been successful

I dont even think Jabari Smith is that great of a defender but if he wanted to his length could probably lock Bird down. The Tayshaun Prince lanky dudes can wreck some launching points.

Do I think Larry would be as dominant today? Heck no.
Players routinely do what only a few could do from generation before. The bar moves on whats acceptable. The starting place is different.

ETA to say Bird couldn't be just as dominant in todays game is as ludicrous as saying Magic or Wilt wouldn't be either. Todays game is much softer on D. Those guys would feast.

This is another routine boomer point. Larry also often played against the milkman in the NBA.
I remember seeing peak Lebron and peak KD play in an All-Star game. Those dudes didnt care about defense in All-star games too terribly much, but once the cash prize went to the winner, you could see how much their collective lengths choked away any kind of useful shot or pass from happening in the 4th quarter.
You're wrong. And was a Harsin defender to boot.

Give me a fricking break. Everybody from Rodman to Malone guarded Bird.
You continuously show your ignorance. The thing that gets me.......you are proud of it.
You are telling me, with a straight face, Durant is a good defender?
Once again.............pure ignorance.
ETA You act like Bird was Isiah Thomas or Joe Dumars. He was 6'9" 220lbs.

Ive already pointed out his height and talent advantage in the 80's. Take a lap.
That advantage benefited him in an era where the 3 point shot was brand new. He wasnt even the top player in the 80's.
Multiple talents are doing what he could do and against better talent now.
You spouting off what he could do against a young 6'7 Rodman doesnt help your case.

I am telling you with a straight face that length causes problems and KD is like 6'11. Going against 6'11 with 7'1 wingspans is different than the milkman Bird went against.

My star
And you still don't know much.
Winners are going to win it's basic and transcends competition.Maybe you have it in you, maybe you don't, it's not required to post. And yes it's the boomer in me who's watch this over and over as every sport evolves.
Some people are winners and it doesn't matter their birthday, gender, or sport.

This is too basic so you are right I guess.
Winners win because of their drive and their ability to impose their will. When the winner is 6'9 and can shoot and rebound while the opposition is just catching up winning happens organically especially when combined with other HOF teammates. Lot of losers compete wanting to win. They can daydream and practice all day everyday, but if they dont have the skills to rise above their peers their mindsets are negated.
You should sign out for the day.

The average height of NBA players in the 1980s was around 6'6". Here are the average heights for a few years in the 1980s:
1980: 6'6.33"
1981: 6'6.38"
1982: 6'6.57"
1983: 6'6.81"
According to recent NBA data, the average height of an NBA player today is around 6'6.5 inches.

So NBA defensive stars that won Defensive MVP couldnt lock down Bird, but Jabari would be able to do it because he is an inch or two taller?

Its Larry fricking Bird. He wrote the book on being a gamer.

Interestingly the NBA players weigh 15 pounds more. (muscle)

Bird was significantly better than Kobe, but he played a lot less games. Bird had a higher field goal percentage, effective field goal percentage, free throw percentage, two point percentage, and three point percentage than Kobe.
Undrafted free agent who gets locked down by Jabari Smith

Corch and Jang = Bird would go undrafted and get locked down by Jabari Smith.
You two are a perfect pair of sub 100 IQ individuals.
