It makes sense if he wants to improve his stock with Georgia in anticipation of Richt being gone in a few years. There are people who still believe that Kirby isn't really running the defense. If he goes to a Florida, a very talent rich program, it could be much easier for him to establish himself as a great DC on his own.

I have no clue if Muschamp would want to go back to being under someone like Saban, but I can definitely see Smart wanting to leave.

If the perception is that DC's are just window dressing under Saban then Muschamp to Bama scenario doesn't happen. Muschamp will want freedom to run his defense and he would be under tight control at Bama.

Kirby may decide to leave but Muschamp to Bama is unlikely imo.

Per the SC 247 page...

*they believe the fact that Spurrier wants to wait until after the bowl game to make any changes may lessen their chances of getting Muschamp.

*they believe that Auburn insiders are not as confident as last week, but there is still much optimism.

*if the search goes past this week they believe that Gus will put the pressure on and possibly move on.

Nothing much new in regards to the DC saga it doesnt seem.

I was just thinking about this 83.

If Muschamp wants to get back in as a DC why would he wait till after the bowls and only have weeks to help recruit? That doesn't make sense. I believe if Muschamp is coming back to college ball he will decide sooner rather than later.

I also believe if Muschamp doesn't decide this week Gus will be moving on to other candidates. He wants the DC in place for bowl practices and bowl game. Not to mention recruiting, no way he waits till January.

Tony Morell from USCe's 247 page seems to think Jim Mclwain could hire Kirby Smart and in turn Bama would get Muschamp.

Tony Morell sounds like a fricking idiot.

There is not much he can do to help recruit for a whole month starting next Monday as that's the dead period. Weeks is all anyone will have after this weekend.

Would you put money on Muschamp based on what you've seen?

I wouldn't put money on anything coaching search or recruiting related. Besides I never said we were getting Boom. Just relayed the AU reporters being confident we would get him.

Since I have no real connections I don't have a legitimate opinion. The only thing I have on a short list is Boom at 1. As for the rest I don't know as I don't know who Gus is serious about. Along with Boom, Odom, and Clark there appears to be others Gus is interested in per PM but I don't know who they are.

You can blame Jonesy for that. One of the first things I learned from following him online is nothing is a given in recruiting or coaching searches til Universities make confirmation statements or pressers.

Good point, but during the dead period do recruits have the option to contact the coaches voluntarily or is that off limits as well.

Now take recruiting out of it. The bowl practices would be very important to the team going into next year would it not?

Then again, with his notoriety, just having him in the position so it gets talked about throughout the bowl season would help recruiting, regardless if he can talk to the recruits.

1. Yes at last check 2. Good point. I'm just saying while it would be great to get Boom this week it's not essential. It would be great to have him for bowl practices and the bowl game but if we don't have him for the Bowl game and lose it then it ain't the end of the world. The important thing would be to get him before the stretch recruiting run starts on January 14th. Boom is worth waiting nearly a month for and if we miss him then Gus can pluck Odom or Clark anytime he wants if they really are #2 and 3 on his list.
