I stand by what I said last night. If Ashford is to play he needs to be running the Thorne offense. We got players trying to learn routes and schemes and we need to make this difficult year count. Freeze wants to pass. Freeze's job depends on the pass, so resorting to the ashford offense in year one is a fatal blow to Hugh and Auburn. Might as well get that buyout ready. If our run game was that dominant then yeah you could probably justify the move. But it really isn't. There is no reason to be reverting back to remedial football.

Agreed, and Ashford has looked better passing anyway. 3/4 in both the last 2 games with the only incompletions being throwaways. Should’ve been 3/4 vs aTm. Hit JJ and Hooks in the chest. And 0 turnovers this season.

Ashford has looked good this season and he has protected the ball; however, you must acknowledge his volume of passes is intentionally light because they don't want him throwing the ball. If they keep him the full-time starter people will be begging for that rush offense or for Freeze to fit the gameplan around Ashfords's strengths. People will be raising cane at Freeze's coaching, then. And it will be glorious.

Why do we continue this bullshite every week. Thorne is the starter. Freeze thinks he’s the best option. No matter how much anyone bitches he sees practice and the games. He knows where the failures are.

Support the fricking team. Or get off the bus.

I’m sorry some of yall don’t know what a rebuild looks like. This is exactly what it looks like. Either you accept that or you don’t. I don’t give a shite but constantly attacking players and coaches doesn’t do shite. If someone wants to discuss in an honest attempt to discuss a different viewpoint is great and welcomed. But this put ROBBIE in don’t even know how to spell his fricking name doesn’t understand football and/or game preparation.

I don’t care who starts. Hell I hope for 1 game I hope for the Ole Miss game that Robby starts so all the idiots can see it’s not just QB. We will do about what we have been score about 17-20 points and lose 33-20.

All that to say we are still on track to be a bowl team. Which is what was expected. Recruit recruit recruit.

Which is insane when you see Throne throwing the ball.

I agree. Just let Ashford throw the ball... they are both a bridge to better times anyways

There is also a lighter stretch coming up after the ole miss game though. It will get easier. You never know, they just might stick with Thorne until they find cover.

lol cause I’m sick of this QB bullshite we do every fricking year. No one is good enough ever. Nick Marshall wasn’t good enough folks wanted Jeremy Johnson. Jeremy wasn’t good enough folks wanted Sean White, Stidham wasn’t good enough, Bo wasn’t good enough for fricks sake some wanted fricking Joey Gatewood to start over Bo. It’s the same shite over and over and over. It ain’t the QB. Never has been. So sure stick Robby back there and let him run around fumbling and bumbling. Let’s him throw and see what happens. Sure he will have some “exciting” plays here or there but in the end it will be the same.

Jville and I are the bash bros. We both wanted Gatewood over Nix. Nix won the job. I actually became a Nix fan some time in 2020. Last on the bus, last to leave.

I was always on the bus until he left. Still cheer for him. You don’t remember the people attacking me because I was personally invested in the Nix family lol.

The point is you can put Joe Burrow in there would look about the same.

I know you are in particular still on the bus. I am not saying I'm literally the last one on the bus.

Either way, I think we can all identify good QB play. Sometimes at different speeds albeit.

No kidding. The offense is ALWAYS about the QB. If you’re the OC and the QB you’re playing sucks in the offense your running, then play another one. We CANT SCORE- Nobody can do worse. I personally think it’s on the OC but I don’t know if Thorne is just f’ing up every open play and we just whine about it as coaches.

This is not a 4yr rebuilding deal. Those days are over. You get 1 year but in year two you shouldn’t get blown out 48-18. Shut out in 2nd half every game. The portal makes it way easier to be good much faster. Hopefully someone is telling Freeze this

I can’t really think of an all conference type portal player from this year.

James is a good corner, but he transferred last year.

Our offensive line room must have been empty because most of our starters are transfers/juco.

Battie may be the one on offense who has the most potential, but the struggle bus limits production. Same with Fairweather.

You’re right. Transfers are not the long term solution, but I do think Brother Hugh sort of had to bring in some linemen to at least get bodies in the room. The lack of offensive production is sad, but talent is lacking at the moment.

Year two should be a little better. Maybe win 8 games.

People are overselling how easy the portal will make our team right though.

Hugh would have to do it Deion style to get quicker results. AKA telling the whole team to leave and bring in 41 in the portal.

I agree. If throne was moving around in the pocket trying to buy time and failing i would give him some grace.

But the way he clammed up against A&M and the 4th down run tells me he doesnt have the right instincts for the job.

Why downvote?

It’s not a stretch to say that none of our portal guys will be all conference.

Fairweather and Battie have down something.
Many linemen have started.

I’ll go upvote my post to even it out.

I think most have been good teammates and I guess it’s going to take BHF a minute to get the roster he needs to compete at the highest level.

And what did they do? They ran it right at (Texas) A&M, they ran it right at Bama. They didn’t win (all) those games down the stretch, but they were effective at bullying people.

Tebow says we only need a few more players before Freeze's offense takes hold and then there are fake announcers like Jordan Rodgers running with some bullshite narrative that we were bullying people with Caddy ball last year and that is what Freeze needs to be doing this year. GTFOH.

Tebow:

“I don’t just think it’s figuring out who his quarterback is,” Tebow said. “It’s how to use them and will they do what he’s kind of training them to do and that’s one being able to hit the downfield pass and being able to throw that accurately to give his receivers a chance. And I also think some of the receivers have to really step up to win some of those one-on-one matchups, because this team is not as far away as many people think they don’t need as many players.

“There’s a few key positions that if they got some guys that are a little more consistent, I think … it would change how competitive they are very fast.”
