Because he keeps his eyes on the damn ball.

After this rewatch I'm more convinced than before we're a 7-5 team. If stidham can't get rid of the ball against mercer with zero pressure then we are fricked against any defense with a pulse.

Leonard should be a starter, IMO
I like that he finds the football when its in the air and not face shielding the WR like Davis twins do

Yep. Rare to see an Auburn DB actually play the ball instead of the receiver's eyes.

Funny, bama fans yell the same stuff about their team.

Not me. I fully expect Stidham to continue to improve with experience. I also expect Chip will continue to improve as a play caller with this personel. I guess we'll see.

Didn't rewatch Clemson and didn't watch Mercer. Do we really feel like it's a Stidham deal? Is the kid just not being decisive, seeing the field clearly?

Bit of both, plus our route tree is unbelievably predictable. Stidham has done a poor job of anticipating and throwing receivers open. We've had some trouble with WR's getting open, though that is mainly when all are just running go routes. We are doing nothing to help the WR's run off defenders, like crossing or pick routes or anything.

Those things combined and we have what we've seen with Stidham taking forever to throw the ball.

I don't see him getting the opportunity to run the offense he wants to run.

Gus thinks he can trick the defense to get receivers open. He doesn't rely on route running or overloading receiving options. If they don't bite on his play action, the pass play is going to be in trouble.

Yep. He has absolutely no idea how to run receivers open. He expects them to be able to get open on very simple routes or a DB bights on a play action. I can probably count on my fingers the number of times we've run a flag route and a post pattern on the same side of the field. At least make then safety have to make a choice if we are going to continuously run slow developing deep routes all the time.
