No worries. I think everyone wants a new coach to succeed. I can't imagine how miserable it must be wanting one to fail.

The financial hit will be huge, no doubt. But things are changing and I really believe the right person could take advantage of the portal and NIL to make any AU team competitive again in just a few years.

The story I heard is Harsin hired the guy and he had no college coaching or recruiting experience. He had trouble getting started recruiting because he had no experience. He asked Harsin for help and Harsin cussed him out and berated him for not knowing what he was doing. Then Davis said see you later, I’m out. Then Harsin gets word out he would have had to fire him if he didn’t quit because he couldn’t do the job.
Gonna have to throw that one on the making-up-stupid-rumors-to-shite-on-the-outgoing-HC pile. Similar to the “inside dirt” on Bowden/Tubs/Chiz/Gustav when we were about to fire them.

I can believe Harsin is an arrogant a-hole, but a guy with 20 years in the profession and a Petersen protege isn’t going to behave like that.

Chalk it up to a shitty hire and leave it at that.

Could be, but I didn't just hear this story, I heard it back a few weeks after Davis quit.

Barring a recruiting coup, he has to go regardless. Under 10 blue chips is just not an acceptable talent level for Auburn, and another year is just going to make the rebuild even longer. Plus, it's not like this is an anomaly for him. Last year was also a bad recruiting class. I don't know if Auburn can afford the buyout and doing this with no AD isn't...great to say the least, but it'd be a justified firing.

He's not a good coach. All of these same issues were prevalent at BSU. The record looks good, but once you start looking at the losses it gets ugly really fast. In 2015, we lose to USU with 7 first-half turnovers, we have back-to-back losses at home to New Mexico and Air Force. In 2016, we move to 0-3 against Air Force in his tenure and get the brakes beaten off of us against Baylor. In 2017, we blow a 21-point lead with 8 minutes to go in the 4th to lose against Wazzu, get boat raced by Virginia at home and are never competitive against Fresno. In 2018, we have a pair of blocked punts off of the same scheme against Oklahoma State and get destroyed, have a completely lackluster game against SDSU a couple of weeks later, beat #14 Utah State, but then have the same herky-jerky offense we struggled with the next week against Fresno. 2019 was better, but we lose to BYU playing a 3rd string QB and get blown out by UW in the bowl game. Harsin's teams could be incredible. They could be completely unprepared. More often than not, they were just meh and barely got the job done against very inferior talent.

Auburn fans, be honest......did anyone on the Plains think this hire was going to pan out from the get go?

Harsin is a ****ing a-hole, and 90% of BSU's issues stem from him. Our O-line got progressively worse over the years, the offense moved to a super bland, predictable run-run-pass scheme, our defense got worse every year after Avalos left, WRs failed to develop, he had to run a 2 QB system for 4 years bc he couldn't figure out how to manage Rypien, etc. Harsin is a stubborn prick and likes to hire yes men that won't stand up to him. He left BSU in a crappy situation with players that he couldn't develop. All of the stuff Auburn fans said about Gus is 100% true with Harsin. They just traded one set of problems with a nice guy for the same set of problems with a dickhead. I know people that know Harsin well and have a personal connection with him. The dude just ****ing sucks.

There was a BSU fan on here that said he's involved in media and has worked with both Les Moonves and Harsin. Harsin was somehow even a bigger a-hole than Les Moonves

TBF, I heard a very similar thing regarding the Davis hire, minus the cussing out. Basically that Harsin thought Davis would be a "ready day one to hit the ground running" situation, which was asking a lot of a guy who had never been an OC, much less a coach for only two years, and Harsin got frustrated with him and it just created a toxic atmosphere for Davis.

I wanted Harsin to work. I wanted him to have success because I like the guy and I hated how our PTB treated him in the off-season

I agree I hate that Harsin is not going to work out but it is now painfully obvious that it wont work. Harsin can and might go on to be successful elsewhere (like Gus) but it is not going to work at Auburn.

This last weekend the team looked unprepared and out of it, something I havent seen from Auburn since 2012 (minus a few road iron bowls).

I hope whoever does the next hire gets it right and we right the ship but a change is needed.

In game:

time/game flow management is not good; bama last year (tank COACHED on that last offensive play to stay in bounds - its what good coaches would do) - PSU this week (1st qtr clock should have been an easy notice/reclaim and what good coaches would do - crucial to the game)

TWO QBs 'system' - I have played for several of the best coaches in football history - no way in hell an intentional 2 QB 'system' would EVER be intentionally attempted. This tantamount to the down/go for it logic; the 'loss for every freshman starter' maxim, and the other rules that inside successful coaches follow. 2 QBs this way - uhhh NO! The random way he tried to implement it was also amateur and demonstrated he really has no clue about some of these things.

Thats three strikes out from me - and I was supportive of him until each of those successive steps. My only question now is whether he is intentionally damaging Auburn with these bonehead tactics?

Call Dave Aranda, this year... Hugh Freeze would be fall back
