Sure but he isn't getting a head job right now. We could probably triple his salary easy.

Cristobal is from the south and coached a lot there, I'm not saying he would definitely leave but he knows where the best football is played, knows he can recruit Florida/Alabama at Auburn, and might like the challenge of going against the best. Pac 12 isn't really known for his style of ball.

I would like to make an argument that coming out of this COVID season would be the perfect time for a coaching change. There will still be a lot of unknowns going into next season with players opting out, teams adjusting to being back full-time (assuming COVID improves), and fans getting more involved. A new coach wouldn't feel so much pressure because all the talk would be about the return of normal college football. I think it would be perfect.

As long as we can pay Bruce and his assistants and take care of the basketball program, I don't care about the money aspect.

That's easy for you or I to say this, we don't handle the money or the perception as fans.

But Covid IS a factor BECAUSE of the money. There is no way that AD Greene is going to be in a position to fire Gus. Unless the PTBs are so fed up and have the money, Greene is going to write this off bc of Covid.

Remember this is the guy that was going to cut the athletic budget 10% across the board, and that was BEFORE COVID affected the revenue stream into his athletic budget.

If you think that Greene would make that decision, you are mistaken.

He is merely a puppet for the power players. If those people are willing to ante up the money to make a coaching change, it will happen.

Allen Greene is a PR guy and fundraiser like all major college ADs.

Napier is going to be a star. IMO a very good coach. But I was not referring to Napier. Kirby Smart would have been a threat to Alabama at Auburn, but I think that Cristobal is a better coach than Smart and he is just as good or better of a recruiter. No scandals. All positives. Kiffin is a damn good offensive coach and a good recruiter but he is a arrogant pos. IMO he would never be hired at Auburn.

Dabo Swinney would be another enormous threat to Alabama if at Auburn. But that will never happen.
