What in the world were Duke coaches thinking? ….. Trying to push the ball up the court? ….. Force UConn to foul you, not turn it over

Throwing over size is a dumb idea in Church league, rec league, and middle school basketball.

There were on 10 seconds in the clock.
Hold 3 counts. Pivot. Bounce. Hold. They have to foul.

Duke had a time out.

That was poor coaching and poor execution.

UConn got lucky in that miracle win. Duke turned it over with a couple of seconds left on the clock and Uconn hit a very long three when they had been missing threes all night.

UConn never gets that chance without boneheaded coaching by Duke

The other Boozer forcing a pass that he did not need to make was a poor decision on his part. I can't put that on a coach

It's kinda hard to believe but I guess he just "brain farted" there in the moment. But honestly, I was surprised to see them passing it around in the back court like they did. I thought after Cameron Boozer caught the inbound, he would hold it. And as makersmark said, they had a timeout too. Just a blunder of a sequence all the way around.

Listened to Jay Bilas on the Rich Eisen show. He had a great discussion on that play. He commented that Coach K ran a drill every practice for end of game stuff. The absolute rule was when you catch the ball you turn and face the defense before deciding to dribble or pass. Look like that drill didn't get passed down.
