Yes it did. Bruce lost his top 3 recruits that he wanted to Houston, Arkansas, and Tennessee because of nil. He ended up with a project guard who is a better football player and then we got lucky that LSU finally fired Will and we got Traore because of it.

Which was the whole point behind that ridiculous extension he signed in 2017. Supposedly that put an end to his 'stability' issues.

None of the four highest recruits in his 2018 finished their careers at AU. One of them (Matthew Hill) followed him to UCF, the others (Gatewood, Coynis Miller and Harold Joiner) were R-U-N-N-O-F-T by Gustav himself.

I do find it interesting that AU is frequently cited by national media as being a place that "chews up HCs and spits them out" when Gustav's tenure was longer than any HC in the conference not named Saban. But then The Harsinning happened.

Truth is, I kinda feel sorry for the guy, or at least as sorry as I can for anybody who makes 100X my salary. He's an old-school Tuberville-type HC, and that era of football is over now. And now that the realignment monster has metastasized, it'll never come back.

My guess is he'll stumble through another mediocre campaign, then walk away with his $12 million pink slip. And we'll end up hiring someone else equally uninspiring and ill-suited for today's CFB landscape.

This shite is literally propagated and enabled by Auburn fans who have some sort of masochistic relationship with the football program to the point that they actually do the media's dirty work for them to help paint this as some sort of monumentally dysfunctional enterprise.

Auburn has fielded a total of 8 different football HC's since 1951. I'm not going to bother looking into every single SEC program for comparison, but this is probably on the lower end of the spectrum in the conference.

Auburn's internal problems and demands are no different than any other demanding football school. But read this or any other AU board: the HC is always some sort of Angel sent from above to absolve us of our sins, but the Devils within the Auburn AD and BOT are working 24/7 to make sure that Auburn football is as tormented as possible .

The PTB are just in the business of getting their way at any costs, but Bryan Harsin, who tried to run off to Washington and Oregon a few months ago and who couldn't give two fricks about anything other than preserving his career and reputation, would give his left arm for Auburn University .
