The OL played great last week. Plenty of time all game

If I may add a thought.
Our strength on offense is running the ball. We have 3 good RBs, our OL run blocks exponentially better than it pass protects, yet we have thrown the ball 2 more times than we have run it through 4 games. We are not capable of protecting a QB for a 3-step drop/read the field type passing game.
CHF is trying to shove a square peg in a round hole by slinging it around.
If we would establish a run game the passing would open up for some easy throws without a lot of time required to get rid of the ball.
We averaged 6.5 YPC in the first half last week and outgained Arkansas by a good bit. The TOs killed us and could be mitigated by running the damn ball.
(ETA: Alston's fumble inside the 10 was solely on his poor ball security, which should be corrected by old school methods, or he can warm the bench.)
Bottom line is we "should" be 4-0 if it weren't for some poor play calling/offensive schemes, and a few very ill-timed turnovers. We are young and inexperienced. The on field coaching may look worse than reality due to mistakes made by 18-19 year old kids playing against much more experience.
In the big picture it is not as bad as it seems.
Just my 2 cents.
This to me is the reason why things might be really bad in terms of CHF. Any of our past 4 coaches, maybe even Harsin, would have seen Cal and Arky as close, winnable games and ran the ball. Freeze was trying to prove his system works no matter what just like Gus.

He didn’t get a QB when he should have.
Don't we have 3 4* QBs on the roster? Only one is a freshman I yeah?
Exactly what kind of QB does he need?

Yea this is what I’m struggling with. If our QBs suck and can’t run your preferred scheme… why aren’t you changing it?

Did you play for him?
Yeah.

Because he has to sell future recruits on throwing the ball around. That's where the WRs came from. What I don't understand is that we can't or won't recruit better QB talent. Thorne was average to slightly above on paper. White was more potential than immediate impact and Knight would be the same story. But then Freeze refuses to go back to the portal and shoves a three star freshman out there to run a high risk offense. To me, that's just bad coaching.

Auburn put up better statistics than the piggies except for that turn-over thing.
Two games with 5 or 6 turn-overs!

Tennessee wised up an hired an innovative offensive mind that is also a good judge of QB talent and able to coach them up.

Just bc he's 0 for 1 here doesn't mean he'll finish 0 for 3. He has a good long track record with quarterbacks and it's way too early to ignore that. Now if he doesn't get a transfer this off-season, Hank doesn't improve next year, and Walker or Duece can't take the position over in 2026 then he's cooked.
