Well it still seems Steele got used as clickbait material and that’s not cool at all. He’s been a good coach and a good guy for AU.

I don't think that's entirely true.

Pretty sure Ron and PAM are fed info by certain power/money boosters. And from what I can tell, they really wanted Steele as the guy. But they don't have as much power as they thought they did.

Which I get. If you're one of 3-5 people putting up the money to pay for Gus' buyout, you'd probably feel entitled to have your opinion on his replacement matter. Even if you have no football experience.

The only school that has a messier booster situation than us is Texas. Although as soon as Saban retires, it's probably going to become a shitshow in Tuscaloosa.

The dysfunction at Auburn isn’t the “PTB”. It’s the message board fans that are so willing to believe anything in order to feel included in what’s going on behind the scenes.

This coaching hire made this abundantly clear once again. And sleuths here and in every board try to make everyone else feel naive for not believing all of the nonsense because otherwise they’d have to face the fact that they’re starved to feel apart if what’s going on in a process that will never, ever include them.

So the next time this comes around we’ll be in the same place. Unimportant and boring people propping themselves up at the cost of normalcy and accurate information

Then that’s messed up on multiple levels. Either the power people are straight up lying to the reporters, and/or the reporters are not filtering and asking tougher questions.

Steele looks to have been dragged through the mud here and NO FANS suggested Steele before Steeles name was brought up. That was dumped on the fans via beat writers and reporters.

This is Auburn’s fault to a degree. It’s not all on the reporters and fans. Successful organizations find a way to leak information to keep stakeholders at bay and informed while these processes happen. Auburn does an awful job at that which creates the space for this circus to thrive.

It's definitely not like it was back in the late 90s/early 00s.

I know I keep harping Steven Godfrey's stuff, but he really does seem to be connected to the seedy underbelly of college football, and he said something on a podcast yesterday that really stuck out to me:

"If you're not thinking about the immediate future, and instead are focused on getting back to the glory days of the past, you are going to do damage to your program"

And that's what I think everyone who has been harping misinformation this go-round has been doing: trying to get Auburn back to a Pat Dye era program.

Biggest reason why Saban has been successful at Bama IMO.

Sorry but I disagree with this. The mob didn’t make up the STeele stuff. It was fed to them. Yeah, if you feed the mob under stressful times it’s going to get out of control. But don’t blame message board posters for originating Steele. That came from Auburn brass with the help of our clueless reporters.

You don’t have to apologize. Agree to disagree

For clarification, I agree that Steele seems fabricated by 247. I think the fans ran away with most of the rest, though
