Wayne Hall was remarkable. I believe his '88 squad held teams to like 7 points per game. When Tot was hired he kept Hall on staff (although later claimed he was forced to do so).

Bill Oliver had a reputation of being a great one too. Oliver was Muschamp's mentor when he was just starting out.

Thai - I hear you. Been there done that. My Ausome Mom sent me VHS tapes every Monday morning. Japan has, amongst other awesome things, a fricking amazing postal system.

I still have those games on VHS, and a VHS player boxed up. Good times.

At first I thought, naaah, Wayne Hall under Dye and Chiz under Tubs were better.

But the game has changed dramatically since then. People forget how highly regarded Ted Roof and Ellis Johnson were before the high-powered offenses of the teens began dominating the sport.

What Steele was able to accomplish from 2017-2019, particularly in light of AU's declining offensive output, was pretty impressive.

Got to agree with your assessment about Steele. That being said, comparing coaches from different eras, is akin to comparing General Washington to General Patton.

All things being equal, Wayne Hall was the greatest DC at Auburn.

Wayne Hall and it’s not even close in the modern era.

I have to agree here. We had a year where if we won the toss, Dye would elect to kick off so our D could start on the field.

Didn’t Garner start off coaching TEs before moving to DL though?

TE coach is where the bagmen recruiters have always been stuck like Bammer had Ronnie Cotrell. Just so happens RG ended up being a damn good position coach

I say yes.

It’s close between he and Muschamp

Neither were better than Donahue say even in 1913 only had 13 points scored on them...while scoring 224 points and went on to be named the National Champions in some polls...During his tenure the defenses did ok...
