Update from SGI - it’s a different kind of hot in Florida! That is all!
While I was in the Caribbean a couple of weeks back, the water temp was 90. We couldn’t play around as it was like being in a hot tub. All the locals are rightfully very concerned. Irma/Maria did a number there and they are still recovering from that. They think this hurricane season is going to hurt. One can only hope the major storms curve back out into the Atlantic.

Yep, just now getting to the warm months. August is not looking like a good time right now

I hope that all members of the Auburn family who are in Florida or other coastal areas don't experience any severe weather during hurricane season.

We do a beach trip every Aug / Sept for a week and always worry about hurricanes. We had to evacuate a few years ago and ruined the trip that was planned for a year. Went home with a weeks worth of supplies and had a blowout pool party....

We do a couple of beach trips in the summer but it’s off this year due to the shark attacks on the local teens.

We have always done our Caribbean trips in August. We have done over 20 of them. We did August because it was the easiest month for my wife to get off a extra week and it was the best month for me to shut my businesses down.
We skirted those things for years. We were caught in 2 Tropical Storms in Dominican Republic but honestly, it was not bad at all. The DR does not get many actual hurricanes. They are too far east for them to develop into hurricanes. So they are usually 60mph rain makers.
We have gotten some serious rain the past few weeks. My rain gauge says I got 11-12" at my house in the past 3 days. It has flooded
We are going to get more over the next few days but I think the long heavy stuff is gone. And we needed the rain. It was dry as hell here for 5 months

That was me for many years as well. Got tired of that and went in July and it was nice and dry.
Wont do the CFB opening beach trip ever again.

I was also planning a beach trip but was diagnosed with lupus a couple of weeks ago. I am waiting for an appointment with a rheumatologist to begin treatment and was told to stay out of the sun until that happens.

Sorry to hear that dude. My daughter in law has lupus. Hopefully you can stay on top of it.

Happy Father's Day weekend to all the dads out there. Taking mine out tonight for Mexican and margaritas to avoid the Sunday crush. Rest of the weekend will be spent floating in my pool and drinking a few.

I know I know. Or daughter knows the kids though, so it was her decision. Really tough though for the girl (Lulu). She wanted to be a doc and now lost her left hand and also most of her right leg and has a very long road ahead of her. She’s alive because there just happened to be doctors and nurses on the beach who quickly triaged her.

I was staying at Rosemary last Wednesday through this past Tuesday. We were on the beach Friday for all the commotion. Didn't see blood in the water or anything, we were probably 250 yards or so down the beach from where it happened. Me and my oldest son were in the water at about the same depth on the sand bar where the shark attacked. Crazy stuff.

Damn, was that on Rosemary? My wife was telling me about the docs taking care of her on the beach. Medical people talking about it

This may have answered my question above. Damn that is crazy
A month ago, the wife and I stopped on our favorite sandbar just off Anna Maria island. We anchored up in about 3-4 feet of water and was making drinks and getting our floats ready to jump overboard. The water there is crystal clear. Im talking Bahamas clear. I looked beside the boat and a 5 foot Bullshark just swam by us and eased on down the sandbar by all the other boats. I have seen hammerheads and bonnet sharks there many times but never a bull.
I figued that day was over as the wife was raised to be scared of everything. But, it didnt phase her. It was a great day and nobody got bit.

Sounds like you are describing my mom. It was the same way for her. Luckily for me, my dad wanted my brother and I to have adventures and let us do pretty much whatever we wanted to. Living on a farm in the middle of nowhere, there was not much trouble to get into but we found our share of crazy things to do. We got BB guns when we were kids and played GI Joe. Dad's only rule was that we had to wear eye protection. I still have a BB in my butt to this day.

Yea, I grew up on dirtbikes, guns, running wild. I grew up country AF. My wife on the other hand had a poor family that lived on a mill village in central Georgia. Dad walked to work, mom never had a job. Her only job was to sit and home and scare her kids to death of everything.
Oh how she has changed since Ive been married to her.
