Happy Fourth of July to everyone! I hope to become a citizen in a couple of years from now!

Just chilling in the yard enjoying some great food when work called and sending me Sunday to Saudi Arabia of all places… deep into the desert where it’s a balmy 115 at day and 100 at night. Come back late next week and then it’s off to far Northern Alberta where it’s a cool 75. Gonna be a wild couple of weeks.

Safe travels. Im not sure how I would do traveling that much for work. I have a few friends who do it and I know its not easy. Id probably enjoy part of it and hate part of it like most things. Saudi to Canada is a big swing though. LOL

I think being old caught up to me on Thursday. We had friends over on Wednesday and went pretty hard till midnight. We did not do a damn thing Thursday. Just vegg'd on the couch all day and watched tv in between naps. Made some burgers and that was it.

Back to work yesterday and I am here today for a 10 day run. Then take some time off when the wife is off work. I am oddly busy here at work for mid July. Not going to complain about it, I need to replace some of the funds we have spent over the past few months.

Hope you all have a great weekend...

I can barely handle the rats, raccoons and other critters that come around my house and get into my stuff. I don't need a freaking alligator on my patio.

I hear you. I love them. Cant help it. Always have. We have a lot of them in our neighborhood. That home does not have a pool and no screened in enclosure. Not that they cant just come through the screens but still , its wide open

Lady there said she has had a coon coming around every night. He was either looking for that, he was lost or just wanted a beer.

Been to Cancun once. I wasnt a fan of the place where we went. Ive ben below that in Playa Del Carmen and Maroma Beach many times and it was fantastic.

I prefer Dominican Republic to Mexico just due to the people. The Dominican People are some of the best Ive met.

We are about to plan a trip for next May. Probably DR. Just have not started looking yet

I have only been over to 30A once. I enjoyed it. We stayed in Santa Rosa or something like that. Nice place.

I have been to PC a couple times and we took the kids to Destin when they were young a few times. I was not crazy about Destin

I prefer south Florida. Always have. My parents always took me to Clearwater beach when I was young. My wife and I have vacationed here in this area for most of our marriage.

Truth. The people in the Bahamas wanted to sell you something or they were done with you. The people in the DR were super-nice and they laughed at us trying to do our basic Spanish but they were awesome.

So do I. My family traveled to Punta Cana a few years ago to celebrate my parent's 55th wedding anniversary. I had been to Mexico several times and thought the DR would be the same but discovered that I liked it better. The people were amazing. Even the areas catering to tourists seemed friendlier and less touristy than comparable places in Mexico.

Yea, I think we have been there 10 times. Or maybe more. We started going in 2004. Back then, the airport was about as big as my house. Small building with no airline equipment. The plane would land, drop the ladder and they would give you your bags on the runway.

You carried your own shite through the "terminal". Customs was someone to greet you, put some flowers around your neck and take 20 bucks from you

That was it

It has so changed since then

Hilarious thing is there a topic on the MoreSportsBoard and people are calling the DR the biggest assholes.

quote:

It’s sad. Anecdotally, I can tell you this. In his job, my son has the opportunity to interact with Latinos from Mexico to Central America to the Caribbean. He said that without exception Dominicans are the biggest assholes/least likable.

What a world we are living
