james brown was a legend. he was not perfect but it was said a million times after king was assassinated brown spoke out about being calm and pretty much kept most of the country from being destroyed.

ETA - Letterman cancelled all other guests on his show for the evening in 1982 to give it all up to Mr. James Brown. Ever heard of anything like that?
JB takes over Letterman in '82 and a much younger Paul Schaeffer appreciates him some JB on piano. Cause JB is taking it on to the bridge. LSU goes down hard Saturday night at home. Why? Because JB, Bobby, and band are taking us all to the bridge. And we'll throw Special Ed off of it. Watch me.
It is not exactly burnt orange and navy blue, but I'll more than take his orange and blue. WDE.
