Given Kirby full control when they interviewed him for the HC position… 45-2 at UGA over the past 4 seasons is remarkable

He would have left immediately for Georgia.

That's a myth by the gumps. The only person wanting Kirby was Dye. All the important folks wanted Gus.

I don't think he would have done what he has done at UGA. At UGA he is the state uni....Auburn isn't and has that issue plus is smaller in fan base than these other teams like UGA & UA.

I established a litmus test for a Nick Saban hire

NC w/in conference as top assistant or HC
Great Recruiter
Strong Work Ethic
Great Coaching Staffs
Willing to push the envelope
Willing to adapt

In Hindsight Kirby is the closest to this unicorn.
4/6 from the start

one ingredient filled in later.

Adaptability remains to be seen.

All we need to do now is pay up for Kirby and we win.

Kiffin could have been close.

I'm listening. Why would he consider Auburn > Georgia?

Because at that time Auburn still had the head to head in the rivalry, a recent natty, etc.

I can see that but
UGA larger alumni base
GA had state scholly system that could help walkons etc
UGA big state school
Branding because of it being the state school

I could go on but I don't think just by winning a natty we would be there remember 2012 season?

I think he would have been better than Gus in the long run but I don't think he would have had the same success that he is seeing now but I could be wrong.

I don’t think he would have either, because Saban showed him the dirty recruiting infrastructure. We would’ve gotten hammered by the NCAA. It’s no coincidence since NIL that Kirby has started missing out on players now.
