So, how far out are you moving into your new home?

Good luck with the storm Lanier. Lived in FL over 25 years and don’t miss the hurricane season.

The new home is 5.5 miles due east of Siesta Key beach.
We are actually getting closer to the water than we are now but in the same flood zone.

Thanks but I think we will be just fine here. I am a little north of Jville so it should just be a lot of rain and some 40mph winds. Just enough to have some fun.
The armpit is gonna get smashed.

True but I still need to get check my generator. I have seen Charlie take a last minute turn and devastate Punta Gorda.
Hopefully it will fly by and we will hardly notice. Just need to get the checklist done just in case...Good thing, I only have one tree left in my yard after the years of hurricanes and having to take some down each TS or Hurricane

Enjoy Spots

Yea, unless it makes a big east swing, you should be fine.... Same here. Not sure exactly where the eye will go once it gets here.
May need to do a video on the beach in the morning, AU24 style..

The tides are really moving this week due to the full moon. Yesterday, it almost ran us off the beach and it will still 3 hours till high tide.

Yea, AMI had mandatory evac so you are not far from there. Not sure what flood zone you are in. My shop is in C and my house is in E. We are very close to the Braden River but other than that, we dont have flood worries out there at the rental house.
You on the other hand are very close. Hope its OK at your place...

These guys build homes right near you. They build them in a 100 days. Use a lot of cinder block and design to raise the floor usually in case of flooding in the area. Oh well, getting your home in 1000 days is good too...

Just kidding

We got a call this morning from our inside rep and they actually told us that we are slated to close the first of October. So once we get back from vacation this weekend, it will be around 4-5weeks. If that happens, I will be surprised but I am going to start packing and setting up things to move in early October.
That would be 18 months on the build.
They graded our yard and put in the irrigation system last week along with some plants and trees. They were suppose to put the sod in Friday but I did not get an update. That only leaves a complete paint job inside and out, clean up and get the power meter. Once they get the power meter, they can put the finish in the pool and get it going. Honestly, a weeks worth of work. But that should take a month or so. LOL..

Nice looking home Lanier and that screened in porch is an absolute must to enjoy a pool in Florida in my personal opinion. Like you said yesterday, I sure hope those plants and tree's are not affected by the storm.

Thanks man. Unfortunately, my wife hates all the plants and trees they planted so we have hired some one to come in the first week will close to replace it all.

I knew that was going to happen though so I was prepared for it. She is picky about her landscaping...
Yea, I would not even think of having a pool here without the pool cage. I didnt think I would like it but I love it at our rental home.
The outside will look a good but different once they paint everything with all the highlight colors...

It’s a lot better than getting eaten alive by mosquitoes and horseflies when you’re trying to take an early evening dip.

You should have asked for a landscaping allowance up front and then hired the landscaper to do their thing. We did that plenty building homes.

Inventory house and we were not allowed to change a single thing. I will also be tearing out the wire shelving in the closets and pantry the week we close and having shelves put in
I wont move in for at least a week or 10 days after we close, I will be personally installing the ceiling fans, tv mounts, painting 3 accent walls installing the outdoor kitchen that week. I have people hired to come in and do the closets and the landscaping. All before I move in. Easier that way but I can not change a thing until we close.
