Amp, preamp and music streamer came in Wednesday. Now I have everything. Just need a place to set it up. And if my phone call yesterday had any truth to it, that is finally going to be a reality for us next month.

Fingers crossed

Same here. Puts a lot of recruiting shenanigans in perspective so I don’t take it much too seriously

My plate is pretty full these days. Not sure I have any energy to worry too much about recruiting. Im glad people are here to give us the low down though. But Im not going to get too upset about it.

I bailed on recruiting in the waning Gus years. I've been suckered back in a touch this year, but I'm skittish. I don't follow closely enough to know anyone really past what is on here or Twitter.

I've got a job I love, doing some cool stuff. There's only a couple of guys on here that gave me some envy.

I love fishing, so you, with the bait company and guiding is pretty cool, but I know it's a ton of work.

CreweBilt has a sweet thing going with all the vintage rides. I could dig on that.

Who else has a cool gig?

He has some badass rides. His instagram was fun to check out.....

I forgot what you do. Care to elaborate?

I took some guys on fishing trips that had some serious wild jobs. And that is coming from someone who went fishing for a living for 25 years.

It's kinda like if some folks do a frame-off resto on a car, put it all back together, and I have to test drive it to see if it's roadworthy. But instead of a car, it's an airplane.

shite. That sounds awesome.....

What is the deal tonight? Anyone drinking/Chillin/whatever?

Wife is leaving for work soon. Leaving me unsupervised. Which is not recommended.

Those speakers, they 5,8, or 10s? Look cool. Analog or Class D preamp and amp? Watts? Loud?! Bass kick you in the chest?

They system I built is more of a quality system. Loud but not overkill. I got all SVS Speakers and Subwoofer and Emotiva Amp and Pre-amp/Processor. I will add two back speakers and a amp to push them once I get it all set up and can check out our great room with these in there.

Front speakers are SVS Prime Pinnacle.

Center speaker is a Prime center

Sub Woofer is a SB-200 Pro

Preamp/Processor is a MC1 13 channel preamp

Amp is a basX A3- 3channel amp

All the SVS speakers are in the Piano black finish. I would have liked to have went with the Emotiva XPA -3 amp but it was too big (deep) for our cabinet my wife bought. The A3 is a perfect fit for those speakers as well.

I am still trying to decide on a music streamer. I like the Cambridge and the bluesound. Im leaning towards the Cambridge CXN V2. I like having front panel controls and not have to have my phone everytime I want to connect to Tidal or Youtube music....

I am a old audiophile from way back. I just have not had a system in a while. Its what sent me to Electronics Engineering school a very long time ago.

I have always loved great music and great equipment to listen to it with. This is really a starter system for me. I will change and add bigger and better things along with way as long as I am allowed.

Good stuff Lanier.

The day I figured out I could plug my iPad into the Aux in of my GK amp and play it through my Mesa 215 and Hartke 210s was a very interesting day.

How large of a space are you putting this in? Don't get me wrong but those towers and that woofer seem extreme. The woofer is powered but I don't know what the amp is pushing.

LOL. The music streamer is new to me. I am doing some investigation on it. Basically it brings services like Tidal hifi directly in on a ethernet connection and puts the highest audio files out there directly in your system. Not through bluetooth or any thing that would deteriorate the quality of the file.

I am behind in technology since my days but its still basics that make things sound good. Getting the right amp/preamp to fit the efficiency of the speakers is also huge

SVS makes some very nice speakers. Cant wait to hook it all up and get a listen

Interesting on the streamers. Didn’t know of such things.

How many ohms is the amp and how many ohms are the speakers?

The A3 amp is 150w per channel at 8ohms. The SVS Speakers are 8ohms each

The subwoofer has a built in amp

Going in my new great room/kitchen/dinning room area. All one space. The amp is pushing the two towers and the center channel speaker. Those towers can handle more power but they are very efficient so 150/channel will be plenty. SVS actually has demos with them running on a 40watt per channel amp and they sound fantastic.

I am going to eventually have a 5.2 system. Two towers, the center speaker, two of those subs and then two back speakers. The issue is that the area behind the seating in out great room is not a good place for speakers. So, my plan is to flush mount them in the ceiling behind the listening area. Just have to figure all that out now. I only need the back speakers for movies. I will use this system 80% just for music and only need the towers and sub
