With our defense, Sean White is not required to to be Cam. He is a better passer than anything Bama has rolled out in years, showing you precisely that playing to the defense works great. White will put the ball right on target if given time. I just don't understand how some of our fans cannot appreciate just how good of a true passer White actually is. The only ball he struggles with is 40+ lead throws, but that isn't required when he can place the ball within several inches of a defender.

What you say may be true, but when he has to fake statue, then.....but it worked a couple of times on Sat.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy...Gus calls a bad game due to SW, and SW has a bad game due to Gus' calls.

I don't have the answer, I just want to win football games.

Well, that's kind of the point of this thread.

Gus gets to keep his job would be one reason. Otherwise he is going back to being a coordinator or coach at small school.

The only way this works is if Gus sees the benefit and views it as a growing experience. Forcing him to do it spells for disaster. Considering Briles and Gus are friends, I could see them drinking beer and drawing up plays together, so it's probably a great match.

I don't see White as a great "true passer". He has average arm strength and slightly better than average accuracy. My greatest concern with SW is our inability to run the ball and pick up crucial 3rd and short/4th and short situations due to the skill at Oline.

Bama can get away with a QB who isn't a world beater for a much bigger reason than merely defense. They run the ball behind NFL offensive linemen. The run it well and grind teams down throughout the game. The play action passing that comes from that makes an average QB look above average.

What is Auburn to do? We either need to get more than 1 NFL o-line or we need a QB to help create blocking angles that create better running lanes.

Make the best use of what we got and let the chips fall were they may. A NC is not a realistic goal every other year or so. They (th'bad loosers) got lucky (and it does take luck) to go along with a good team. I'd be happy to just be in most every game till the end and pull the good upset come last game when not.

What qbs are you watching? within 30 yards, he's as accurate as anything I've seen in a while.

Now for the failings: - He's too loyal when it's evident change needs to happen - He's stubborn and likes to personally try and fix an issue and/or force his original plan when it's evident it won't work (square in round hole type thing) - He doens't listen to others enough (contradictory I know)

We hear this about every coach to ever coach at AU. We heard Tubs was too loyal to the BBQ gang. We heard Chizik was too loyal to Ted Roof. Now we hear Gus is too loyal to Rhett. Hell, the newspaper articles on Miles' firing are saying he was too loyal to Cam Cameron.

Actually, I don't believe any of it. These guys want to keep their jobs and they will fire any scrub not pulling his weight. Money talks, bad play calling walks. Tubs fired the BBQ boys, but did it too late. Chizik eventually got rid of Roof. And if Gus feels like he needs to fire Lashlee, I think he will (though I think he will encourage him to leave more than he will "fire" him publicly).

I remember when Gus was hired, an unidentified coach said this about him:

"When it comes to football, he is ruthless," said a coach who knows him well. "He'll cut your throat and drink your blood."

What if they are doing it to get the replacement in place at a cheap price? Let Gus run the show until the Briles stink cools off and then send Gus on his way. I think there would be some friction with Briles and Gus on the same staff though.

I'm with you. Maybe Gus thought they could still right the ship, but I'd fire my own son if it meant I could keep my $4+ million salary.

Loyalty does no one good if both of you get fired
