@JasonLaCanfora: Gus Malzahn (Auburn) very much a top candidate for CLE. Vandy's James Franklin in the mix. One of them or McDaniels expected to get that job

This is why you put a buyout on contracts. I don't care if that buyout makes you look stupid down the road. Auburn doesn't have a problem paying a buyout and it ends all of this stupid arse talk about going elsewhere.

It'd be a total Cleveland move.

Gus is not getting an NFL head coaching job in his second year as a head coach in college with no prior nfl experience. Am I crazy to think this?

I don't think so. Would not make a lot of sense. I am not sure Gus even wants an nfl job, but who knows.

Just seems odd the Browns would have either Franklin or Gus at the top of their list. Maybe the Chip Kelly effect. Franklins only nfl experience is a single season as a wr coach.

Chip Kelly at least had a few years head coaching at Oregon having multiple double digit win seasons and multiple bcs bowl appearances.

We've never seen anything like this so I'm not sure anybody can give an accurate answer until it happens or doesn't happen.

I was really hoping Kelly would bomb in the NFL so this shite didn't happen.

Sorta annoys me with the timing. frick Cleveland.

Was not concerned about Texas at all. Said it before and I will say again, AU is as good as any job in college and Gus likes it here.

The nfl is different because it is considered the ultimate brass ring and pinnacle of the profession. Now maybe Gus has no desire to coach in the nfl. I'd dunno. I just know I am not concerned about Gus ever leaving us for any other college job.

I agree. Seems somewhat unprofessional for the Brown's organization to contact the media now and say that they want to interview CGM. They know that information will eventually get to him and it will be a distraction.

NFL has never given a shite about the college game. fricked up but they just feel like they are so far above the college game.

I feel like Gus won't be interested in the NFL just yet but I can't imagine him wanting to stick in college. I just don't see him wanting to do the recruiting and program management necessary when the NFL is just coaching the team not the program

I don't know how his offense will translate to the NFL. Chip Kelly made some alterations but I don't know if it will be so easy for Gus. Plus side, he will have his pick of mobile QBs that don't make it elsewhere
