With the recruiting classes we did have, should we have been losing to South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, and to LSU and uga every year?
The Saban thing is an excuse.

You’re kinda being one though.

We all understand Saban was in the state at the same time. Does that make you happy with 8-5, 7-6, 6-5 seasons? Especially after almost a decade of running the program? What coach would just accept those results and be happy with them? Seems like a loser mentality to say nothing was wrong just because Saban was coaching at Alabama. Have to change something. Gus refused to change clearly.

So your argument is Alabama hasn’t taken any players from In state that we would usually get if Saban wasn’t there?

What do you mean by "would usually get"? Auburn is the #2 school in this state. Any competent or better coach at Alabama should be able to land more of the top players in this state than Auburn does by default. Of course Nick Saban pulls more players than we do - that is to be expected. The narrative falls apart once you see how many "top" players signed with neither Alabama OR Auburn. What's the excuse there?

The reality is that we were getting our asses kicked by MULTIPLE programs. Clemson started going into Georgia and landing better recruits than we were landing. Clemson and Florida and Georgia started coming into Alabama and landing top recruits that weren't going to Alabama. Alabama lands the 5-stars, but they've expanded their recruiting so much that they've left so many local players there...and it's been OTHER programs coming in and scooping them up, not Auburn.

This whole shite is so tiring. Gus Malzahn couldn't even develop the "elite recruits" that he DID get his hands on. So let's lose the BS about how the key differentiator was that meanie Saban was scooping up all the talent. In Malzahn's 8-year tenure, we had one of the worst recruiting "success rates" in the country. But the answer is supposed to be that he just needed MORE top recruits? Buddy was 2-5 in Bowl games, most of which came against vastly inferior teams from a "talent" standpoint. He was just a mediocre coach, period.

If I heard right this morning ...Gus has bigger problems on the horizon. UCF is joining the Big 12. Now Gus must get good at recruiting now, not years from now. He'll be competing against everyone. No line recruits means .....Auburn horizon in his mirror.

Why don't you revisit his record vs UGA, LSU, and Bama...along with Bowl games. Then explain what he didn't so bad.
