I think this shows you how good Gatewood currently is and how much potential teams see in him. He ended up at Kentucky. Not Florida, not Ohio State, not Oklahoma, not Clemson.

At the same time he didn’t go to Kent State, FAU, UCF, UAB, etc.

The SEC wanted him and he’s still in the SEC. Time will tell.

I don't wish him any harm or ill will, but quitting midseason is bullshite.

Lol, why? He used his time wisely and found his new team. He didn’t glamorize it or string teams along. We should all be happy for him.

What Gatewood did has been normalized in today's college football, but it doesn't make it okay. Quitting on your teammates midseason isn't cool or smart. He could have played out the season and still gone to Kentucky.

I actually agree with Buckfama. He could have rode out the last t4 home games and left afterwards like other players. He didn't gain anything by leaving mid season.

But glad he found a home. Lets see if he can win a job there now..

Telling the kid and the media constantly that he will play more, and then snatching him back like a little kid isn’t ok either

I agree. Gus said one thing and kept doing another.

Gatewood leaving actually helped Gus call the game by alleviating the pressure on Gus in using someone of Gatewood’s talent.

Reminds me of the Cowboys games earlier this year when Elliot finally got back. Tony Pollard was running well but it felt like the staff was trying to force a rusty Elliot into the action.

Gatewood did nothing wrong by leaving though. I’m glad he did. He was just wasting his time there.

Gus handled Gatewood poorly. Very poorly.

But if Joey was my son, he would not have quit the team until after the Iron Bowl. Adversity allows you an opportunity to build character and to learn lessons you can’t learn outside of those hurtful situations.

Joey was hurt by Gus. I would have been too. But he took the easy way out. I hope the next time he faces adversity, he learns to stand in and fight it and grow stronger. It will make him a better player and more importantly a better husband and a better father.

There really is no way to categorize what Joey did other than quitting on his team. I don't blame him for leaving, but would have preferred he stayed the entire season before leaving.

I'm happy he landed at UK. I believe it will be a great fit. I hope he's the rare exception of someone who balls out after leaving a school in the manner he did.

I agree with the notion that when you commit to something you finish it out, but wasn’t one of the main reasons he left early was to visit places and be enrolled by January?

I suspect that was his justification, but IMO he could have still done that after the Iron Bowl. Again, I'm hoping he gets a win against uga and UF before he leaves.

Normally I would agree with this, but like you said, Gus handled it about as poorly as you could. There's only so much being lied to a person can take.

I love this shite. Like you, me, or anyone else knows what was promised or told to the kid by Gus.

We know for sure what he told us in the press conferences.
Which is that his touches would increase.

We also know what his qb coach said. The same coach that Gatewood confided in and told Gatewood to wait on transferring until he knows for sure.

Based on what we know and the way Joey left it is safe to assume he was being promised a role and Gus either lied or IMO wasn't organized enough to manage a 2 QB issue in a way that could have helped us find a bit more success this season.

Joey probably felt lied to, but in the end it appears there is a lot going on in Gus' head and it doesn't always seem logical. Joey was the casualty this season. He isn't the first and won't be the last. Joey was gone at the end of the season either way.
