Offense looks good but I expected us to be able to score against them. I expected a shootout if Corral could run but we may still get one anyway. As long as Nix plays solid and we continue hammering ole Miss in 12 personnel I’m confident.

Difficult when all a coordinator wants is Zone weiner in his mouth.

Exactly. Press on the inside, play back on the outside. It’s not rocket science.

So press with safeties and play off with the guys that can actually press?

Y’all are right that you stop the mirrored slants with press, but you have to trust that all four guys are going to win that battle and make the tackle if they don’t. Otherwise it’s 6.

I’m off my soapbox. Y’all continue melting about holding maybe the best offense in the country to 17 points at the half

Press could stop it but. Corral could run wild on that and if you miss a tackle it’s a house call. Best thing is to stop the run like really stop it and make them pass and get a couple picks

So what you are saying is that you’d rather GUARANTEE them a slow score rather than take a chance on stopping them?

Yeah, THAT’S the historic AU defensive philosophy we all know and love.

Best defense is keeping the Ole Miss offense off of the field through ball control.

I’m saying either way is a risk reward situation. I would much rather them have to execute multiple plays then just 1 or 2. We have to be better in zone. I mean yes mix it up some but we are a zone team now

No I’d rather them have to complete 5-6 passes to score than complete 1. This is the exact same thing we did against LSU in 2019, the difference is this team has a legit run game.

Are we running dime in your scenario? Because they are usually four wide so a safety is covering someone.

Situation dependent for me. When the backup was in we should’ve manned up and got out of soft defense. We missed a huge opportunity there. And then Corral nailed 3rd and 17 for a 15 yard gain against 4 down kiffin. 3rd and 17 conversions never sits well with me.

So your argument is that we should run an old school defense against a very modern offense just tradition and history. Cool.

Absolutely. We are going to have to mix things up. If you give Kiff one look he’s going to break it down.

Corral finally makes a bad decision and throws at the worst possible DB. Roger is so good.

Old school still works if you have the players. Bama and Georgia would both contain them
